Alex, drive a 550 before you make up your mind on a 360. Once you feel and hear that lovely V12 working up front, you will likely leave the 360 behind. Just MHO

I suspect most Honda dealers treat their customers better than most Ferrari dealers. I have had 6 Hondas in my household over the last 18 years and I have always been treated like a king by my local Honda dealer. From what I've read from FC, a lot of Ferrari dealers treat their customers more like serfs.

not a plug here, just the facts:

* Sign up RIGHT NOW for a sub to the 'Ferrari Market Letter' and start boning up on the market.
You can give 'em a call and get back issues, too(might cut a deal if you subscribe, too:-) ), and you'll find out really quickly that the ONE 360 you drove ain't the ONLY ONE for sale.
While these will never be common cars, the demand right now is evidently not up to the supply.

If FCI had much demand for these babies, do you think they woulda spent a lot of time with a rookie walking through the door?

Ferraris sure are nice cars, tho, aren't they? :-)

Don't let your eagerness for the model sweep you into purchasing this particular one, at this price. I haven't researched 360 coupes lately, but there have got to be quite a few around, and they don't seem to command the premium the spider version still does. Also, don't assume anything on service. Look at the records. I'm willing to bet there are plenty of dealers with relatively new coupes that would be happy to make a deal with you if you are a serious buyer.

Alex:

A new one is the same money. They'll tell you the list is long, but if you push, you can get a new one within a year. When this is all over and done, you'll find that the 2000 is worth a bunch less than an 03 and their the same price.

If you want, drop me a note and we can discuss.

Alex, I don't own a 360, but of the 3 that we have here in town, 2 have been in the shop with F1 tranny problems,
same year 2000.

Oh, I forgot to ask. Is any of the maintenance/service/oil change DIY? Or am I married to the dealer when I buy.

They red 2000 360 was priced to move at 159K. A bit high if you ask me. The final price is something we would have to negotiate. The sales person was a gentleman names Mark Euel. Lawrence assisted as well. It has the F1 tranny, daytona seats, shields on the side, Tubi, and 10 K miles. I couldnt help but fall in love with the car. (Who wouldnt!) The only thing that upset me was when I was told that the economy is picking up and the cars are starting to go. "wont last long". But when I went to look at the car out back, it was blocked by two others and looked like it hasent been washed in months. There was a thick film or dirt and sand on it. They rinsed it before we took it out to play.

At idle, I dont remember anything it sounding any different from my M3. The car and seat were notibly lower than what I am used to. And the ride was significantly more firm than the M. Mark drove it out through the parking lot on to the road behind the dealership and gave it moderate throttle. Already faster than the M. But when he opened her up, it was a whole different story. Before I could even think to count, we were already doing over 80 mph and the Modena kept pulling very hard. The sound from the tubi was unreal. This loud roar kept screaming harder and harder. The F1 paddels kept clicking through the gears, and before you knew it, we were out of road. We turned around and made the trip back and forth several times. Than, IT WAS MY TERN! A quick instruction on th F1 tranny and I was behind the wheel of my first ferrari. I can still feel how tight this beast was. I hit the right paddle to first gear and we are off. Screaming through first, second, third... still screaming I hit both paddels to shift to neutral to slow down and turn around. Does this car even have a spedometer? I dont recall looking for one. We turn around and do the road several times over. This car is disturbingly stable at speed! My drivers license wont last long if I pull the trigger on this car. I wish we could take it out on the highway... no dice. I drove back to the dealership and parked at the front door. What can I say, this is by far the most impressive thing ever driven. When I got back in my M3, it felt slow, sluggish, soft. How the hell am I supposed to drive back to Charlotte in this POS! And I thought the M was fast when I bought it. All I can say is that I found my next car. I am sold on a 360 and I am sold on an F1. They gave me a bunch of figures which sound affordable but I think it would be best to save my duckets and pay cash. I hate monthly payments.

I assume the 30K was done because of the car being three years old. If not it means there was a major service item on the engine.

The 360 can be used as an every day car especially with a F1 tranny. The problem is the car attracts a lot of attention some unwanted. If you have a secure place to park it at work buy it. It is a great way to start and end your day.

Having owned 3 Hondas, I'd say being treated like a Honda owner is NOT a bad thing. Of course, different dealers have diffent levels of customer service which is true for Ferrari dealers as well.

Have an independent mechanic look at the car for you. Get all promises in writing, have all the books & tools in your hands before you give them the final check. Good luck :-)

A racing school would be a good investment

Just be careful with FCI. Steve Barney built the dealership's (stellar) reputation and then sold it a few years ago and started SportAuto.

Make sure all your Ts are crossed and your Is dotted. They are run by a Honda dealer now, and if things go astray you are likely to be treated like you bought a Honda.

The senior sales guy at FCI apparently just left to go to SportAuto.

Looks like someone's getting a new car! Awesome choice?

I believe that the 360 belt service is an engine in job. That's what I heard. I also heard that the 360 replacement was looking at going back to chains.

It is simply an amazing car.

I bought my 360 coupe, my first F-car from Lawrence, FCI.

All I can remember was it was simply amazing, hard to explain until you sit and play with F1 transmission.

Have to take the car and drive it at Blue Ridge parkway. You can start from Ashville, NC north to Southern VA, 300 mile stretch road.

I don't own a 360, but you can go join Ferrari Club of America and go to the website and check out the Tech section and peruse the comments there. I would look around. There are probably a few of these out there to compare to the one you are looking at. Find out if it was a 'track' car. I go to track events, and I think lots of nearly new cars, which I hear end up for sale after having been run hard. It seems like guys who run them on the track sell them after 5-10000 miles. Take it to an independant shop to check out brake rotors, etc. for excessive wear or repairs.

Fellas, I just took half of the day off and drove down to FCI in Greensboro, NC. I spent several hours with a very friendly salesman who told me everything I wanted to know about the 360. Than he said "If you have got some time, we can take one out." Next thing I know, we are flying down a side street at 80 mph. It was the best car eperience I can remember (I would be glad to in to more detail of the drive if anyone is interested.) So, to make a long story short. I am seriously considering goving this thing a good home. It is a 2000 red 360 F1 with Tubi (about 10K miles with 30K service done). The only thing I want to add is a challange grill. I would appreciate advice and comments. I was told it was a very useable every day car. I was told that it was very reliable as well. What am I looking at service cost wise? Is the belt service engine out? Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Alex
