James,
as I said, trying to manage the whole house purchase and construction that will follow right now. Sorry but I do not partner in any business deals. My experience forbids that! Nothing personal.

Tell your friends he has to fork over $ 3K for the phone number!

Martin,

Let me know if you want to go halves on this. I am down for a quick 10% profit. I finish school this summer and will use the money to travel to Europe before I have to start working.

I am hoping none of the sharks in this city find out about the car before I(or my friend)makes a buying decision. I have my car broker friend calling me hourly asking for the sellers number. We just had some snow last night, so that should cool off the buyers that are looking for sports cars right now.

Eric, outch Sebring is in the middle of Florida Redneck COuntry! SoBe has some good stuff to offer but still would like to check first hand, maybe Nika is right:-)

As far as a good deal even at 65,000 KM or 41,000 Miles, yes that is a good deal. Berlinetta is not easy to sell though.
After the conversion I believe you can sell this car for $ 70K, so yes, there is a quick 10% profit. Canada Cars are basically US Cars without the DOT stamps. Need to change the speedometer and up you go. Relatively easy conversion.

James,
I would buy the car but we are closing our new house in a few days and I have to show them some money in the acocunts, besides the large downpayment we are making anyhow. So no F-buying for me in the next few weeks. Soomething I would look at though.

First of all - I have never met Jay - but him and his wife have an open invitation to visit anytime.

Second of all - over-tanned southern women who are 40 acting 18 - go for it if it's your style.

Now BACK to cars - from the auction I went to recently - I believe it's about 2.8% duty on cars leaving Canada to go to the US - the other way it's over 9% I was told. I haven't been able to confirm this. A US built car can br brought back to the US without heavy duty or tax was what else I was told.

At the Raptor game in Detroit on Sunday - chants of "bomb Canada" were heard - REAL classy I'd say.....I've always thought - trash the team or players but show some respect for the country.

Tom,

It's not a US spec car, but what would be the differences??

The Canadian cars are usually the same as the euro cars ,but I know lots of guys that have bought cars from the US and brought them to Canada and it was no hassle, as long as you had the proper documentation.

Is is more difficult to send cars from Canada to the US?

This car has 65,000km on it. Is that still a good deal?? Do you think this car could be sold in the states??

Anyone want to buy this car with me and ship it down south for a quick sale??

I have $45,000 CAD that I can put into this.

The 348 is overpriced! $75,000 US for a 348TS? You can get a good Spider for that price. For Canada especially if you will hit rain sometimes, the Berlinetta is the right choice.

The 355 B is not that great of a deal if you ask me. I would say it is right where the price should be. 40,000 Miles for $80,000 for a 95 355B is pretty much retail. I would expect it to be no higher than that!

The 348 sounds overpriced. 355 berlinettas are in oversupply and price are falling and will push 348 prices down as well. The sales manager at Ferrari of Denver is selling his 97 355TB with 14K on it. Asking 95K. I know it's a very nice car. I think 355Tb's will soon be consistently in the 80's pricewise.

It would definatly be a bargain for one of you guys in the states, as your money seems to go a long way up here.

I don't know what to tell the guy. His max budget for the initial purchase of a car was $80,000, which is what the 348 is selling for. Once you add 7% sales tax to that, you are right up in the 355 price range.

We both like the 355 better, but he is very scared that he could be buying a money pit. My negative comments about 355's do not help his situation either, and he has started referring to me as the devils advocate.

The 348 is a nice, low mileage car, but for the same price he can have a nice 355.

That's pretty cheap, even for a '95 and a berlinetta at that (i like the coupes, but unlike 328's, 348 and 355 berlinettas don't seem to be more, but somewhat less desirable, at least here in the States). A friend bought a 95 spider last year without reservation after he satisfied himself that the car had not been abused. Of course, it didn't have the mileage this one does. I know there are alot of folks out there that support the notion of high mileage ferraris, but its one thing for you to own the car and put the miles on it, knowing what you've done to the car (and how you've attended to its servicing needs); its another to buy from somebody else with that kind of mileage, and find that it needs expensive attention. 20 or 30 grand american style doesn't go that far on engine, suspension and other parts once you find out what the car really needs. What's the service history? I'd probably look for a different car, to avoid potential headaches, but that's part of the risk/benefit of buying this car:- it may be a bargain after all.

Ryan,

Small world. No, that 355 is not at WS automotive, it's a private sale from some guy who lives in Red Deer.

I sell suits to one of the guys that owns WS, I believe his name is Lorne or Lawrence.

Shoot me an email [email protected] and we should meet up sometime. I am buddies with Kulu, the young car broker who is always cruising around in 355's,360's, 996 twinners and so on. He also sold that guy who lives in the NW the F40.

James, as the previous owner of a '95 spider, and having put 22,000 miles on it before selling, I would think the valve guide problem, and the exhaust manifold problem would have shown up by now. I had the valve guide problem with mine, and it showed up early-within 15,000 miles. If the car in question was properly maintained, everything should be straightened out by the indicated mileage.

Ok guys,

In Calgary, there is a 1995 355 Berlinetta. Yellow on black, 65,000km. The guys wants $90,000 CAD for it.

My friend is going to look at it, as he just has been dealing on a 1994 348 GTS in Vancouver and this 355 is very close in price, within 5 grand. The 348 is at a dealer, this 355 is a private sale, so he will also save on the GST (provincial sales tax of 7%)

I know the 1995 355 had some valve guide problems. I also told him to expect cracked headers as the exhaust is stock.

I don't know of the mileage on the 348, but it is quite low.

Will there be problems with a 1995 355 with this many km's on it??? I cannot believe this guy actually has that many km's on the car. He claims that he drove all over the US in the car to put on so much mileage.

Any suggestions or tips??

Thanks
James Dixon
