Pat, IT guys can search/monitor weblogs all day long, but they're not going to find anything while I'm using Terminal Services to connect to a remote machine and use the 'net from there. Always a way to get around the "system". Ha. |

Rob, I run a modded version of vBulletin 3.0 myself and am quite fluent in PHP. If you need any assistance setting things up or you want to do some customizing I'd be happy to help. - Tim |

No offense, Pat, but reread the thread. Rob is the one who said he was thinking about a stealth mode for work. Rob - What more appropriate key to toggle the stealth mode of the site than "F1?" Although it is usually reserved under Windows applications for the help function.

No offense to anyone but I think Rob needs to do whats best for the board and not so we can surf while at work. I mean we all have been doing it for this long and has never been a problem (knock on wood). But it would be a neat idea. |

Doody, if we WORKED when we were at work, there would be no DES. Rob, maybe you do a www.ferrarichat.com/stealth link, no FC Banner? |

I have to agree that the big FChat logo is hard to conceal at work. Its easy to scroll down enough to hide it, but with the boss within easy viewing range most of the time, it is hard to surf as it pops up at the top every time a new thread is opened. Just my $.02 |

So Rob, how's version 3.0? I'm waiting for the final version before I go converting my board.

There isn't a problem with the banner ads. They are everywhere on the Web. I must second Tillmans observation about the HUGE FerrariChat.com across the top of every page. It makes the site look more "home made", and more importantly makes it very difficult to surf at work! Making the browser window smaller just doesn't help because it is right at the top of every page. Good luck with the project! John |

I've been thinking about a "stealth" version for work, but not sure how to include the banner ads. I'll just get the standard board out there before I start looking into that. |

Rob, Just curious, but why the switch to vbulletin? I like how nice and 'light' the current software is. One *major* major plus of FC's current style is that you can visit the site, and know which links you've clicked on and which you haven't. Everything is considered new not from your last visit, but from the last time you actually read the thread. With vBulletin, you've basically gotta read everything in one fell swoop if you want to keep abreast of things. --Dan |

If you use Windows press Alt+F4 and the window will shut down. To toggle to another window press Alt+Tab. Cheers |

Rob, Looks good! I would be more than happy to help test the new software when the time comes. Pat Sorry this might be O/T There is software out there that will close down or minimize the browser with the hit of a key. And besides if the boss really wanted to know what you were doing he could just call IT and look at the weblogs. |

Rob: What you need to add is a way to attach the escape key to another page that has a realistic looking spreadsheet whith work related topics pasted all over it (and no ads on the worksheet)--just like real work was getting done......... |

The problem has never been the colors, it's that honkin' huge Fchat logo up top Change it to "Important Work Related Website" and everything is fine... |

Over the next month I will be working on many new enhancements for FerrariChat.com. I will keep everyone updated and allow you to get sneak peaks. I don't want to get swamped with various feedback from 1,000 users, but if I see some trends in the feedback, then I can make some adjustments. Right now I'm just working on the general look, especially the colors. I like to use white and shades of gray as it's easier on the eyes and draws less attention (get back to work!). I do have that one yellow bar in there now like the current FC, but I can even remove that. I can also add a few more Ferrari colors if everyone wants the site to be more colorful.
Here are the rough development plans... July 20th - Finalize colors and look. July 27th - Finalize forum rules and functionality. August 3rd - Link in all other FC pages and sponsor banner ads. August 17th - End 2 weeks of limited user testing (10-20 users) taking feedback and reporting bugs. August 31st - Allow all users to start using new board. September 14th - Close down new posts to old board and move to archives. It's possible if things go well that this timeline may be accelerated. Everyone is going to love all the new functionality and ease of use. Thanks, rob |
