Ben: I've heard of those. They have Acura engines, I think. I need to ask Chris to refresh my memory, but I remember that he thought that they were on the edge of legality for some reason. |

Bill - OT> There are at least a dozen Elises in the Bay Area. Altho some (maybe 3?) don't have Lotus engines in them, the body/chasis etc. did come from the factory. I can post a few pics of the one I know the owner of. -Ben

I applied for their Area Service Manager job that they advertised several years ago just for the heck of it and with a list of qualifications that included Fiat Dealership Management as well as a General Motors Service Management Degree I was sent a form letter stating my qualifications did not meet their requirements. Makes you wonder what kind of person really got the job. |

Okay, here's the scoop on working for Ferrari. My brother was contacted by them about 2 years ago about being their PR guy. As mentioned here before, he held a similar position with Lotus at that time. There were no company cars at Ferrari two years ago. There was a VOLVO pool car that "you can drive when no one else is using it". He was told that he would rarely, if ever, drive a Ferrari, in contrast to Lotus where he had access to Esprit Turbos and Elises (yes, they have an Elise or two in the States for 'engineering evaluation' purposes). They also didn't want to pay him any more than he was making because the 'glory of working for Ferrari' was enough reward. He wasn't about to be put in the position of trying to position the attributes of vehicles that he wasn't able to drive and experience. He passed. |

Ron, You might be right. What we have seen of FNA they do what they want and they probably intimidate their employees as well. Their bonuses are on a waiting list like the 360s. |

This Sales Manager most likely travels by plane and rents from Avis rental Midsize. In his home town he may get to take home some old beat-up car on the home dealer lot ;) from time to time. Wreck the car at fault and he losses his job unless he is a real company asset. That is what management obtains as a perk to management from what I understand at car dealerships. |

OK, I read some of the other posts and I guess if he is working for Ferrari and not a dealer he will drive a new Ferrari. He still has to claim it as income. |

No matter what the incentives , You can be sure that you better produce in short time and produce well or your butt is out the door. This has to be a job where you not only give a great part of your life but your ass as well. These people want results, big results. This ain't a Chevy dealership. And in regard to the demo. to drive? The salesmanager probably drives the used ones but as a demo he has to claim it as income to the IRS now. What would that be????? |

If it sounds to good..... Somehow I don't think FNA would have a very competitive salary and bonus program. Ron, I agree that this job is probably a lot more work than appears on the surface. As anyone here in sales knows, it takes a pretty big bag of money to attract top talent. |

geee Ron - I don't know which would be better a job with Ferrari or a job with chocolate. Seriously - you are right. I find the successful people I deal with know when to say I don't know the answer but I am willing to learn. |

As a Sales Manager in the retail Chocolate industry some people think Retail products sell themselves. Not true... I am sure the FNA sales manager has to train the sales force how the deal with the potential f-car owner and take him/her throught the buying process. Most likely a difficult job to grow the business with a limited product line. |

I trip to Italky would be better then the SIBERIA trip I have to take soon.

Your basically right Doody. He beats up on Dealers, settles squabbles, terminates Dealers, finds new ones, takes bribes for providing cars (if they follow the old Honda model), etc. The real work in this job is Maserati. They have yet to establish the brand in the U.S. |

clue me in please on what the sales manager for fna does. FSpA has production limited so that supply is grossly behind demand. so what's there to do? s/he doesn't sell. s/he doesn't find ways to sell more. s/he doesn't need to find ways to attract buyers to the cars. s/he doesn't really need to expand the dealer network. the only think i can think of is that s/he's the liaison for the dealers. that doesn't sound like much fun. stroking the GMs and settling petty spats b/w dealerships? curious, doody. |
