What a beauty! Lovely pics Simon - looks in great nick. The 365's a bit faster, a bit less lardy-looking, and has two extra exhaust pipes. (flame suit on!) |

Different model "Boxers" for the taillights -- Andy's is a BB512 while Simon's is a 365GT4BB. |

Beautiful cars, gents. Tell me about the difference between the tail lights. Andy's has two, while Simon's has three. I've always had a weak spot for these. |

Simon, Lovely to see some pictures of your Boxer - Talk about a lot of car for the money! - KHPC have a red BB sitting in the back of the showroom - Out of all the cars there, I spent more tine admiring the BB than anything else! Hang on - Im just going to se if I can squeeze yet another car in the garage!! Paul

Why have you stopped looking? These cars are great value at the moment. There will surely never be a better time to buy a Boxer.

Guys, gorgeous cars! Funny, I was looking for Boxers earliers this year and there was none for sale. Right now, there are 4 in the local market, and I have stopped looking!

That's roughly how I bought mine. I wasn't intending to buy a Boxer, I wanted one but that was about it. I went to look an auction preview just to kill a few hours one Sunday and fell in love with my car. I went to see how much it sold for the following and came away as the owner. I still love it 3 months later.

uploading pictures is like starting a hot boxer. You have to learn how to do it and be patient.

Simon I've had it just over two years. I didn't mean to buy one. I went to buy a DB5, silver grey James Bond style, but without the ejector seat, because that had always been a dream. It looked beautiful but I drove it twice and the dream was shattered. It sounded and handled like a tractor. While I was there the sales guy tempted me with a 328. I drove that but found it too cramped and a little uninspiring. When I got back in my 993/911 to drive home I realised I didn't need it. As I was leaving the showroom having wept over a Daytona (the car I really want but costs too much) I saw a Boxer in the back of the showroom. It looked ******* fabulous. It was once owned by Chris Rea (rock star) and tuned up by the ex-Nigel Mansell garage for track use (440bhp and many mods). I said I would drive it the the next day but some guy came in an hout after me and bought it without even looking at it. So I decided I was not meant to be so dumb as to buy one. Two weeks later they called me 'cos they has another (standard car). Once I had driven that all common sense went out of the window and I went into full "I want it mode" ie you start to justify it in all kinds of ways rather that admitting you just want it. Yes I checked it out as much as possible, but as Swiss Tony says (Uk joke) "buying a Ferrari is like making love to a beautiful woman ..... you just want some fun and to be seen with her and she's looking for commitment, a serious relationship and full access to your wallet" She won. It's like a mistress rather than a wife. I don't do concours stuff or show it at all. I just sneak out and use it when I can. I told my wife we are just good friends but she is getting suspicious. So here's a couple of pictures.

They do get warm don't they. Mine was even worse until last weekend. I have had it for a couple of months now and on a motorway it is fine but any traffic and the temperature went right up. Even a 30mph jam on the M1 was causing me serious grief. The fans cut in as they should and it has had a new radiator nine months ago fitted by a marque specialist. I was begining to get worried and then I found the problem. The fans were wired up the wrong way round and were sucking air rather than blowing it through the radiator!! Swopped the wires around and it runs at 190F now whatever the traffic or weather. This hasn't made the inside any cooler though. My A/C blows nice and cold but simply can't beat the heat soak through the screen. Plus it's a black car with black leather and carpets. I must get some light coloured overmats. Know of any source for such a thing? Have you had yours long? Tell me all about it. I see it is a 77 512BB. Mine is a the last RHD 365 (#19343) made so they must be quite close in production terms. DId you go to the FOC concours. A very nice blue 512BB won the 'Boxer & Testarossa' class. I came 5th (out of 6 cars)

Simon I'm at East Molesey (Hampton Court), so not far. Drove it to Goodwood early on Sunday morning. Blasting past lines of traffic on narrow country roads and revving the engine really loud, like some naughty school kid, as you pass through villages just to get the echo off the walls. Nobody seems to mind, in fact quite the opposite; people hoot and wave as you roar past. Driving back in 90 degree heat it was a bloody hot boxer and not a warm one. I think the aircon was designed by a chef from Naples whose idea of cool was a low gas setting. Oh, and you have to get home before dark because the headlights were designed by an old, blind Italian candle maker whose guide dog could see in the dark anyway. |

My Boxer has been in the shop for a major for 2 weeks now and seems like 2 months. I miss it so much i have to put my 1:18 scale Kyosho in the middle of the garage and lay down and push it around the floor. |

Mine got so warm once when i was driving it hard on a hot day, that the glue holding down the rubber dead pedal loosened, and when my foot was clamped down hard on it, and then i lifted, the rubber pedal stuck to sole of my shoe. |

I just got my Boxer back with new clutch, carbs rebuilt, several irritating details fixed. It has been out of action for a what seems like a very long time. It's the hottest day of an English summer and I drove it home the long, long way. My face hurts I'm smiling so much. As my granny used to say "God's in his house. All's right with the world". No replies needed I just had to say it. |
