Previous owners must took care of the car. It just amazes me everytime I hear the old Ferrari running like new after 20-30 years later? Can you imagine same for Porche? I don't know the reason for it as I am not inclined on mechanics nor body structure. Tony, you have precious jewel in 246. It is surely classic now. I do envy you! Enjoy.

Tony, the cars sweat, and some leak is expected. Mine will need some attention in the winter as one cylinder has less compression than the others. Will probably rebuild and restore. The heat can be reduced by disconnecting the heater conduit into the compartment. Mine has been done and although still hot, nowhere near as bad as it would have been. |

Yoshi, it's really in pretty fair shape. If one wanted to get it back to 1973 condition, some work on wiring here and there, paint starting to bubble in some spots. But overall, it's just time to drive and drive and drive. I have no appetite to take it apart and restore it, given the nice condition that it is in. Maybe in 3-4 years down the road. Regarding looks vs performance, I really haven't been in any other Ferrari, ever. So I don't know what the others are like, suspect much quicker and agile. But at least compared to the latest in German technology, this car is PURE fun. Not gut wrenching acceleration, but just PURE fun. It's kind of like those open wheel racers you train on at Laguna Seca when you take the intro to racing course. Not huge amts of power, but given the power/weight ratio, the sound, the closeness to the ground, it's all just the greatest experience. I just can't wait till tomorrow nites drive.... I am fighting the notion to take it out now for a midnite stroll. But I know my wife won't come pick me up in case of a breakdown! When we have one of these bay area rides, you guys are welcome to take a ride or even drive. I just need to get the pssgr seat belt clasp fixed. Who knows where/how...

Way cooooool loooooking car! This Ferrari is one of the best for appearance, then again, 360, Testa, 328 all looks great too. Conglat for your car, and enjoy the ownership along with driving, too. Are you going to restore the car? |

thanks for all the kind words. I took the Dino out for a nice drive tonight. Almost hit two Bambi's on HWY 9 going up to the summit. I have now perforce learned double clutching... painfully grinded the downshift twice before getting it right. What a blast to drive. It surely doesn't snap your neck with acceleration, nor does it wind to 7700 in a hot second, but it just feels really really good, the ergonomics, the feel of the road thru the wheel, the sound, the commotion just behind your head of noisy engine parts. Wow... it's so real, so huge. I have an S500 which is very strong, handles superbly, very quiet, smooth... but it AIN'T no fun compared to the Dino. It does wind out to 7k+ turns, and with lots of heart at that. This car feels more designed for a relationship with a human than as a transportation vehicle. We're going to get along very good together I have a feeling. Anyway, I am very happy with the purchase. The only issue is that the cockpit (you can't really call it 'the inside') get's hot like the heater is on full time. Can't figure out how to turn that off or to turn on the cold air. pics are at: www.dino246gt.com, that's the sellers website. As soon as I find my camera I will take my own pics... we just moved. Taek- glad to give you a drive as soon as I get the passenger seat belt functional. I can't join the 19th event, but would like to join one thereafter. Frank - yes, this was at Marty Bishops place. He did a fine job of giving the car a major service before it left Atlanta. Just a bit of oil seems to be dripping down at the right engine area. But the car starts rapidly, idles like a swiss watch, and runs strong. Mark, thanks for the tip.. I know the road but forgot about it until you mentioned it. On the high priority list for test roads. Car's not registered yet, so that's a nice remote place to run. |

with respect to the information about "chairs and flairs", although you hear the terms together, they were two seperate options. most of the cars that have one, do not neccesarily have the other. very few cars were made with both. as for the "chairs", most restorations are done using the daytona style chairs even though the cars didn't originally have the chairs options. flairs are easily fabricated as well. and just because the car has campagnolos, doesn't mean it is or ever was a "flairs" car. |

246's are simply gorgeous, not a line out of place. And the most artful and purposeful manifestation of the V6 ever. Congrats! BTW: What does "chairs and flares" mean in reference to the Dinos? I've heard it before, but still haven't figured it out. |

Tony, was it at Marty Bishop's shop in Cumming, Ga. last week ? If so, I saw it and it is a great looking car. And, I'm glad you have the confidence to call it by its GREAT name, Dino. A lot of the insecure folks out there insist on calling their 246s by the Ferrari name as if that somehow makes it a better car. It doesn't. Dino is a great name with a long tradition of great cars. |

Tony, The next drive is next saturday the 19th. The awesome f-chatters from the bay area are going to take me (I'm from Seattle) and Byron (I think from LA?) on a drive since we are both in SF next weekend. The plan is to head north across the Golden Gate for dinner. Look at the current bay area threads. Would love to see that new dino! |

Have had quite a few cars over the years, been to more car shows than I can count. The Dino, never gets old and you never get tired of looking at it. Even though most of the cars I have owned were faster than my Dino, none of them were as much fun to drive, it is an amazing piece of work [its art]. |

I used Passport Auto Transport to move a 73 Dino 246gt from Atlanta to San Jose. Passport did a great job, very professional. In the truck along with my rig was about 3 antique Ford Model T's. Anyway, I register it next weekend at the DMV and then I'll let her wind out a bit on Highway 9 (I live in San Jose area). I have no pics yet. I sat in the driveway just revving it for 20 minutes... marvelling at the terrific sound. |
