Ben,

The cars are so damn low, you have to lie down on the ground. Those ladies over by the front were laughing at us, though. :-) Oh well.

The best line I heard all night was about Vincent's car... absolutely hysterical! :-)

Dan- Meant what I said when you took that low-angle shot. (that's Dan's 550 everybody!) That's what I love about Ferrari guys, here's a guy who OWNS a 550... so this isn't exactly the first time he's been around an exotic. And what is he doing? Talking cars with us all, and getting down on the ground to take pics of other people's F-cars! That's what I love about this bunch, enthusiests through and through. <now>

Wow, thanks for the compliments guys! Glad you enjoyed the pics, I just have fun with the camera, not really trying anything in particuliar, just shooting cars :-).

Photography's always been a hobby of mine, I really should take it furthur and start really shooting more. (don't really think I have a particular gift for it though, especially after being in the presence of true artists, film cameramen, DPs, etc.)

I really want a Hasselblad H1 <medium> I can take around and shoot. <and> I'm a SUCKER for landscapes!

Best!
Ben.

Kuzi- You're a pimp, shoot me an email; [email protected] would love to compare notes! I think it's the wonderful dynamic costal area I live in, plus so many others that I've visited that drive me to take pictures. I just want to share the beauty I see with others! Yes, I drive out during the witching hour...

Gentlemen: Thank you all so much for the hospitality. You Bay area F-chatters are a real class act! Norm, you have a gorgeous 360.....love that cuoai (spelling?)
interior and sport seats, and it sounds awesome! Dan, black on black maranello is definitely the way to go! Sorry about giving you a hard time about being a "punk ass kid":-) Byron, great talking to you about the FDC.......Lets talk more about bringing it up to the NW. And to all of the others who came out to welcome a fellow F-chatter, Taek, Art, Vincent, Noel, Allen, Faisal, Tariq, Tim, and Ben..........again thank you all very much! You all made an otherwise mundane and ordinarly meeting and seminar in SF absolutely awesome .................If ever any of you are up in the Seattle area..........you know to look me up and we'll definitely recipricate.

Hey guys...I drove by Piatti's last night around 8:30. I was with my wife but saw the following cars parked in front:

Black 348
Red Corvette (sorry it looked out of place..no offense)
Blue 360
Black 550
Red 355 (parked nose in)
Red 348

My wife said it looked like I was going to be a party crasher so I didn't come in. Looks like you had a great time.

I was in Larkspur having dinner at Roxanne's..I had to drive by on the way home to Sacramento.

WIll post pictures and add colorful comments later. Good group. Special thanks to Byron and Kuzi for coming, and Norm for putting it all together.

Wow, sounds like everyone had a great time!

When's the next event?!

I've been in LA for the weekend and have seen more 360 spider's and 550's than I see in 3 months in NorCal. It's unreal. Everytime I go to LA I see lots of incredible cars.

The 360 spider is really growing on me...I honestly think it's the sexiest convertible around today. Uh-oh....I'm starting to really want one, but for the $225,000 they were asking for the silver 2001 with 5k on it at Ferrari of Beverly Hills I don't think I'll be picking one up anytime soon :-(

Hey guys, just got in...

It was great to meet all of you tonight. Special thanks for Taek for picking me up and giving me the tour of the city in the C5! It was great talking with you.

Kuzi, dentists rock, man... gotta go check out the 575M one of these days!
Dan, sweet 550M... so sweet!
Norman... ahhhhh...that 360 is hot!
Vince... nice 348, gotta go check out the cave soon!
Noel... gunmetal...*drool*... very nice!
Art, great to finally meet you in person...can't wait to see the '04!
Faisal... get that "license" issue cleared up soon so I can see the TVR!
Allen, Tariq, Ben, Tim... great meeting you guys, too!

It's great to know that we have such a great "driving" group in the Nor. Cal area!!! I think FDC is about is explode into the Northern California and Pacific Northwest area!!!!

Piatti's was great - very accomodating. Believe it or not, it was my first time at F of SF... got a sneak peek of the Enzo in the garage bay!

Bay Area Ferraristi are a good bunch... see you guys at the FDC Hearst Castle Event during the weekend of Sept 21!!

Thanks all you guys for such a great time tonite!

It's wonderful and amazing to me how warm and welcoming the F-chatters I've run into are!

Too many of us to name, but I'll try. Always a pleasure you guys!

Byron and Kuzi- I really enjoyed meeting you both, we HAVE to do this again! Particularily looking forward to getting the Northern and Southern CA groups together at "that" castle (heh Faisal :-)

Tariq- Great meeting you! Come and hang out any time, I can definately tell you've been bitten by the f-car bug! (the infected can always tell another infected!) See you again soon!

Noel- your wheels look *amazing* ! Absolutely stunning to behold, really. I. wow.

Taek- too bad they took away the silverwear by the time you found Tariq is a fellow Porscheiphile, you could have ganged up on us!

Vincent and Tim- Great meeting you, if the cops only knew!

Art- I think speak for all of us when I say I could listen to your stories untill the cows come home, autographing the picture on the judge's wall, I love it! Put me down to chip in for a rental car if we still want to do that. Seems like the perfect way. Have headset, will travel :-)

Dan- you are THE man, and the only 12cyl at the party! Drive her wheels off, just like Taek and I did when we took it off road on the test drive.

Norm- your new 360 looks and SOUNDS amazing in person, WOW! (did leave a puff of what looked like valve seal seepage smoke on start though, might want to get that looked at! Could also have been water vapor still in the muffler from earlier, but...) PS; Your lense is huge, I bet the ladies love it.

Battery in camera is dead, so I'll post the incriminating photos tommorow!

Best!
Ben.

Guys,

It was a good time for sure. Great to meet some new folks too. Thanks Norm and Dan for setting it up.

Byron, Kuzi,

Spoke to my wife and she tells me the trip took 5hrs and 45mins, not the time I quoted at the restaurant...a lot slower. Well, it felt faster, that's for sure! Either way, good to hear you guys drive your machines!

Didn't hear much of the conversation at the other side of the table but Norm, I think it's a safe bet to say that Faisal is not exactly all there. Upload

Noel,

I really like what you did to the rims. It looks much better than what you had before. Your car rocks.

Mark,

Ben,Faisal,Vincent,byron,Allan,art,Tariq,Noel
Tim,Taek,Dan,Kuzi,Norman

It was fun seeing everyone tonight and meeting some new people. Byron, Kuzi you guys are great hope this won't be the last time we run into each other.

Tariq,

Glad you had a good time, you're welcome anytime.

Wish I could have spent a little more time with everybody, but there's always next time, which hopefully includes a little more driving. We should think about doing a thing up here in Napa, I know of some pretty good roads.

Ben,

very cool to caravan down, hope that picture with the cops turned out. That van doesn't keep up too well, we're going to have to do something about that eventually.

Noel, Faisal, Taek, Art always a pleasure. Art don't know if i'll make it to watch the shifters, but give me a call about that tour in Napa.

It was definitely fun tonight. Between Art's racing stories, Faisal's running-away-from-the-police stories, and Byron's first hand account of DES' LA trip, I almost overlooked the superb food. I think we may have found a new venue in addition to our breakfast runs!! Superb!!

On my way outta here, going to just meet up at Piati now, we decided SF was going to be too insane.

MMMM GT40!!! Taek- if you're OK with a kit you can build a 'modern' GT40 for real little $. Actual cars are more $, but one with no history, etc might be doable. 427 with 180* headers is something to behold!

Best!

Cooool.

Someone had actually suggested a non historic low budget GT40 as a classic. GT40s are definitely in the top of my "if I had an unlimited budget" list. Someone told me that ones with no history might be within my budget Upload. I don't know anything about the market on those cars though, so I might just be getting my hopes up for nothing. Although I've been told restoration on them is not as bad as the Italians.

Dan,

What license issues?! I don't know what you're talking about! :-) Come on...my record is only worse because I'm not the artfull scammer that you are when it comes to getting out of tickets.

Honestly, I think Dan has the most tickets of anyone I know without a single point on his license. Either he's masterfully creative when it comes to giving reasons why the cop was wrong, OR he's bribing someone over at the courthouse and I don't know about it. Either way, he is the king of getting out of traffic violations.

Taek,

I know you were just sturring the pot! I'm sure you'll be doing some more of that tonight. :-)

Justin,

>>And Taek, you know I have a love for Porsche's as well as Ferrari's, but superior pedigree?! I'd be careful with that one..it'd be pretty hard to back up! ;) <<

I'm just taking a jab at these guys. They're a great bunch and know what they are talking about. Great for intelligent conversation you'd sometimes love to see in this forum.

But since you mention it...actually I mentioned it didn't I Upload...

Porsche is the winningest marque in motorsports history. Period. Rack up all their wins in all motorsports events, and do so with any other marque and Porsche wins by a HUGE margin. Known fact mentioned many times in publications like Grassroot Motorsports, Motorsport, and other vintage/modern racing community publications. Needless to say the ace up Porsche owners's or Porschephiles' sleeve when the F word comes up Upload.

That said, Porsche is acutally my second favorite marque, tied with Ferrari. I love them equally. If this were a Porsche dinner I'd be saying Ferraris are superior. Upload

But we all know that when it comes down to it. Lamborghinis are the best road cars Upload...

Justin,

I appreciate the concern, thank you friend. We need not go into your license issues, do we? :-) I think you have me beat there.

Guys, seriously, one of us needs to buy a 456 for this kind of thing. I nominate Art, because it's about damn time he got a 12. :-) Or Taek...

Ben: stale bread - you can throw them at him. My spoon has blocking abilities that his knife doesn't. I am expecting an easy victory. :-)

See you boys at 7 at Macy's!!!

Too funny... I'm looking forward to the evening for sure.

Art - I'm glad we'll finally get to meet in person. Too bad you didn't make it down to LA last weekend. You missed a good one for sure!

Taek, are we still good for 6?

Vincent- you didn't seriously think you were going to get out of this, did you?!?

Dear me, with so many people arranging rides, perhaps me just showing up like 'that guy' is a bad idea! I sure don't want to drive the van (only working vehicle at the moment, avast ye car gods!) and try to keep up with Faisal in that!

Since I have some work today, I will probally meet everyone in SF at the Macy's. Would still like to close down Union Square with a bunch of F-cars, but fear we may just have too many of us, and don't want any incidents.

Can't miss spoon vs knife! I'll be the guy in the corner, tossing bread at you two in the hopes of causeing a diversion. Or you may find me behind an upturned table with Art, plotting our escape route. He'll drive, no, I'll drive, no, Hey, where's Vincent think he's going?!?

If anyone needs to get ahold of me; my cellular: 707-235-8663

Best!
Ben.

Wow, this is looking like it's going to be an interesting dinner.

Too bad I'm in LA this weekend, I'd love to see Dan and Taek go at it with a spoon and knife respectively.

Oh, and he's serious...don't get Dan started on the modern Porsche's or you'll regret it...I've heard his vehement dissaproval of water-coooled vs. air-cooled many times :-)

And Taek, you know I have a love for Porsche's as well as Ferrari's, but superior pedigree?! I'd be careful with that one..it'd be pretty hard to back up! ;)

Whoever's driving down with Dan, try and remind him that the speedo is in miles per hour and not kilometers. Once he's figured this out, also remind him to read the actual numbers on the speedometer and not guess from the position of the needle, as 100mph is at like 9:00 and Dan is used to driving at like 12:00. I wouldn't want his car to get impounded in the first week. :-)

Have fun tonight everyone.

Justin
