I don't currently own a F-car. I used to own a 308 about 8 year's ago. At the time I lived in a big condominium complex. The majority of the time
I left the car uncovered. There were a few cars stolen out of the underground parking, the F- car was never touched. When I would got to a restaurant that had valet parking, I would hand the attendant a ten spot and ask him or her to park the car in the front so they could watch it.

Johnny,
For your information, the car was left outside the Blackhorse Motors garage with my permission. Matt, thanks for the clarification here. I have never in my life, and never will, park knowingly in a handicapped spot when I know that others that are handicapped need the access. So before you jump to any conclusions, you might think about reading other parts of the thread...

My point from my post was that I left my car overnight, unsecured... nothing more than that... the fact that Coop captured some shots of it was completely coincidental. I had no idea the guys at BH were going to leave it in a handicapped spot... but then again, between the hours of 6pm on a thursday night (when the shop was closed) to 9am in the morning (when the shop opened) I doubt ANYONE that was physically challenged needed the spot!

Do your homework - read the original thread before you criticize, please.

Do not forget that a few people drag grandma
out of bed to help get that handicapped plate.

We have all seen them haul ass down the freeway
with that handicapped plate at times.

Well Peter, now that Vancouver has government sponsored "safe injection sites" for the intravenous drug users in town, you won't have to worry about bumping into them in alleys anymore. Now they get free clean needles, a warm, dry place to shoot up, and supervision by a registered nurse. Heck, do the get free heroin too? :-) Sounds better than Amsterdam...

Dave Handa: "...I park in ...car theft capital of North America, Vancouver, BC..."

Hehehe, not even that close to the seedy part of East-side Van, I once parked the GT4 (in daylight hours), in an alley off of Broadway and Main. Came back a while later to find addicts shooting up heroin about 20ft away... Although I wasn't scared, I did have an uneasy feeling about it.

Steven,
You're being paranoid - I've left my 348 parked outside overnight with no problems. - link to the pics

I do not see anywhere the facts of how, when or where the car was parked - to be perfectly honest I do not care!!! It is shown is a handicapped spot! Come on "The Don" lets bury the hatchet!! No harm - No Foul!! An Observation followed by an Opinion - what makes F-Chat a great place??

Think before you open your trap

You know I would expect a lttle more understanding from guys who have the ability to overcome the physical challenges of life. We all should be thankful that we do not "now anyways" have to use these handicapped spaces - nothing pisses me off more than to see a perfectly healthy adult walking away after parking. I do not care if its an F-car or a 1970 Pinto it is wrong ----- In regards to Mikes car great! I'm glad to hear he does not use this behavior as a normal parking practice and hope that none of the rest of us would either. LOL

Johnny,

Opinions are useless if the facts are incorrect. Such as the case with yours.

"The Don" -- first this is an open forum and I like yourself can voice my opinions!! I was simply making the observation that the car was in a Handicapped spot!! Nobody here can deny this!! Byron was explaining how he parked his F-car outside - I hope this is not his normal parking behavior! Simply making an observation - Get off my Back!!!

Johnny, that was a late-at-night shot when Byron was parked outside a car dealership taking pictures through the window. Everything was closed at that hour, and he was essentially with his car for the short time it was there. The info is in another thread.

Johnny,

relax.

His car was at blackhorse motors getting fixed. THEY parked it there.

Also, they were closed when this picture was taken so before you open your talkhole and start bashing a chatmember, get your facts straight.

Byron,

Your car is being parked outside in a handicapped space?? I know we all must be a bit off continuing to pour tons of money into our cars in an attempt to beg em' to run right, but lets not advertise it --actually if you are not handicapped or have a deficiency of sort, I really have a problem with parking in a handicap space! :-( It really upsets me to see someone who is perfectly healthy walk away from a vehicle parked in a space reserved for the handicapped - the normal reason - nice car and handicap spot guarantees more room on the sides! Not trying to bust your chops but I do not think bragging that you park your car outside and then seeing it positioned in a spot like this says much.

I think you may be a bit "anal". I park in hotel parking lots and garages and even overnight in front of my girlfriend's house in car theft capital of North America, Vancouver, BC. I do like Marty and others, either use a plain car cover, or tip the valet and make sure it stays withing eye shot of the front entry.

If the hotel has multi-level indoor parking just park at the lowest or (highest as the case may be) isolated place--cover the car with a cruddy cover-never had a problem with this approach.
If the hotel/motel only has outdoor parking I book somewhere else.

I find a decent motel in a decent part of town and park it as close to the front entrance as I can - no probs (Green River, Utah; Albuquerque and Las Vegas NM; Excaliber @Las Vegas NV).

http://homepage.mac.com/c000per/PhotoAlbum9.html

This was recently in LA...

If it really bothers you, just have the hotel valet let you park it in front of the hotel - I had that done when I was down in south beach, FL... the hotel had ABSOLUTELY no problem with having a ferrari parked out front for the entire weekend, albeit in the rain!

I leave my car outside overnight often. Usually on accident.

Places like the Hyatt have valets. Have them park your car in front of the hotel.

I have never had a issue with them

Steve, you're too anal. I've left my car outside at Motels and Hotels, never had a single problem. The first night I had my car, I spent the night in rural Utah and stayed at small Motel. I parked the car as close to the window as I could then cringed when 5 or 6 trucks full of redneck high school kids came and parked all around it. They ignored it. If you're worried about it, stay at a nice hotel and let the valet have it. They have insurance and are responsible for it.

greg leaves his TR and 13 other muscle cars parked in his office parking garage!

Also, my office garage is covered and is patrolled 24/7 so you could park it somewhere like that.

Most of us have garages and live nearby so if it were that big of a deal I am sure one of us could accomadate you.

I have been struggling with this problem and I am beginning to think I am too anal to live.

I would like to attend some of the get-togethers that the FCA group in Dallas put together every so often. My problem is that I live 6 hours away from Dallas, and I will have to spend the night if I want to actually enjoy a weekend of meeting a bunch of new people and enjoying the cars. I can't get past the thought of leaving my car in a hotel parking lot, unprotected, overnight.

Is there a hotel chain or individual hotel that can protect such a car? Is there any idea that I am missing? Do I just sleep in the car......or hire a security gaurd. Am I just too damn anal, and I should just go for it and hope for the best?

steve
