My GT4 does the same thing but was really bad when I first got it. The seams sealant was cracked and missing therefore water was dripping from everywhere not ever getting to the front drain tube. Since sealing it with black silicone the problem has only happened during extreme right cornering. |

I bought the claw grabber tool and a magnetic pick-up tool (a set) for $2 at harbor freight tools, but you can get the set at most auto supply and tool stores for a wopping $4! |

I need to get one of those grabbing tools. My coat hanger was pretty useless to at extracting decayed foam! Glad you had good luck. Let me know if the water goes away. |

Crawford, Bingo! I just took out the kick plate and disconnected the hose and ran a little flexible "grabber" tool down the hose, all clear, no obstruction. Curious, I did what you have and unhooked the vent hose and looked inside. Yuck, pieces of crumbly foam everywhere! It was obstructing the drain opening and actually blocking much of my lower vents. Some is still attached inside, so I am using my "grabber" tool to pull as much of it out as possible. This is very similar to the crumbly foam crap Ferrari used as filter material for the heater boxes in 308's too. I removed that and used a metal mesh instead. For this, I think it will be fine without the foam or mesh, as long the foam is not blocking the drain hole, the water has somewhere to go, but it is not as humid here as in TN. I will post in a few days and let you know if I have any further "water woes". If we need that foam in there, not sure how to replace it short of removing that whole unit, drilling out the rivets and taking it apart...not a job I wish to tackle. A/C systems are supposed to be designed to deal with the dehumidifying effects they create, so hopefully we are okay now. Well, back to re-assembly... |

Dave, Remove the kick plate at the back of the passenger foot well. You will then see the drain hose on the upper left (just to the right of the center a/c duct). |

Well, there may be more blockage to clean out then, but water IS coming out of the hose, and when I ran compressed air up the hose, I could very clearly (and loudly) hear the air escaping into the dash area.... I may have pushed the blockage out of the way, but have not removed it, right? :-) Where did you access this from under the dash?

Rob- I just cleaned out the drain hose very well with a coat hanger. It was clean and water does come out of it very easily. Then I looked into the lower a/c duct. On the back right part of the tube, I could see the metal a/c 'radiator' that the air blows thru and is subsequently cooled. In front of that metal grill was some decayed foam filter material. My guess is that this foam is/was there to keep any condensed water that accumulated on the grill from blowing into the a/c duct? I can see water spitting off of this grill. The water then either leaks to the foot well, or is blown out my lower vents. ?????????????? |

When I used air (my lungs) and coat hanger from the bottom it didn't work. I had to take it apart from inside the cabin and clean it down. |

The hose comes out from under the front of the car, just behind and to the right of where the battery is. Look underneath and you will see the hose. |

Where is the drain plug? I had this happen in our 85 308QV during a quick 60MPH right hand turn. Scared the crap out of me!!! |

Well, this is the wierd part; like Crawford, my cars drain was working (water coming out tube) yet I had water inside, dripping from under the dash. It has not recurred since the coathanger, and air blast, but will be watching.... |

My drain plug was completely blocked. Running air through it didn't help, I had to use a hanger and you wouldn't believe all the carpet fibers and stuff that came out. Works perfect now. Scares the hell out of you going 70 mph down the highway and a cup of cold water pours out on your legs. |

Hmmmm, my car did this last Saturday, and I checked and cleared the drain tube and did not detect any blockage. Yesterday I ran some compressed air through the line and could hear it escaping under the dash somewhere, so the line is definitely clear. I have not had any further occurance, but will be watching carefully. It could be that whatever catches the water and directs it to the tube is cracked or leaking....I may have to dig around in there some more, but will wait and see if it leaks again. |

I have water dripping under the dash when using the a/c on my 328. I've blown air thru the drain plug and it sees to be draining OK (although the quantity of water draining out under the car is much less than I see in my BMW or Buick). Could this water be strickly from condensed air inside the a/c hoses? It's very humid today and the air coming out of the dash vents was actually condensing into a (for lack of a better word) con-trail... It's a little disconcerting to see water dripping on the passenger floor mat. |
