Paul, my dealer is F of Orange County, CA. Good people but obviously interested in selling "next cars" to "house customers" hence not too excited about extended warranties. Nevertheless, I am told a decision is imminent but for quite some time now. I think it would be great if we could get many 360 owners to ask many dealers the same question. Perhaps we'll get a good answer soon. |

Tino, thanks for that bit of info on the extended warranty. Let us know when you get an answer. Who is your local dealer? Do you think they will answer you or would you have to go to FNA? |

Jeff, Ok thanks for the different perspective. Now I have a much clearer pic in my head of the why of your comments. Yes Ferrari needs a longer warranty to keep up with the jones's , transferrable to protect the second hand market. But their exposure seems huge just looking at the reliability aspect, so it might be a hard sell to get FNA to agree to the potential monitary risk especially since deep pockets are still lining up with exhuberant abandon and until they start building better/more reliable product. |

the way i viewed it was if something goes wrong i would of called algar. i did encounted a lot of traffic -stop and go leaving philly for a good hr. no lights came on -but the excitement of owning a new ferrari out weighted any consequences.if i think of all the things that could happen-why drive the car or own one.ferraris need to be driven -my problem is we have winter. |

For all 360F1 owners who, like me, worry about end of warranty, Ferrari has offered to extend full warrantees for (I believe) one or two years for a nominal fee in Europe and FNA has been thinking about offering it to US first owners. my dealer has not given me a clear answer yet but a decision by FNA/dealers is expected very soon. Maybe you guys can investigate with your own dealers and post your findings here. |

JRV I don't know the exact mileage from Philly to Buffalo but it's in the hundreds of miles. That's a long drive with any new car not just a new Ferrari. There were numerous reports of F1 problems on the earlier cars. Specifically, the "over heat F1 clutch alarm" that would go off. Causing the car to be towed back to the dealer as a precaution. From my own personal experience, I picked up my new 360 and it broke down 27 miles later with clutch and transmission problems and had to be towed back to the dealer. Maybe I am just paranoid now but I would never take the chance of driving hundreds of miles with a new car that had new technology (F1 transmission). |

>>salesperson told me the customer was driving the car home. I didn't think that was a big deal until he told me the car was going to Buffalo. Man, I thought that would be a lot of fun but kind of risky<< Just out of curosity....not a bash or intended to start a long drawn out debate... but would someone explain what the Allure could be to buying a brand new car thinking that merely driving it home is risky? Seriously I don't get it. TIA |

jeff- i have got to believe that was me-i don't know of anybody in buffalo that has purchased from algar-this is my 4th ferrari that i have bought from algar .the drive back to buffalo was uneventful-no problems -got alot of looks going thru small towns. the car has been great-after i had the 5000 mile ck. up the test driver said that it was one of the smoothest shifting f1 that he has driven.i have no reason not to belive him.before i put the tubi on i went for a shake drive in a 360 std. shift -shifting problems-because this coupe had a tubi and i wanted to hear it before i bought it -i ordered one on the spot.i like your thought about warranty-thanks for the advice -i think i will make a couple of calls today about an 04 |

Van You have a tough decision. I have a 2002 and I told myself that I would sell the car before it went out of warranty. I do not want to own a Ferrari that has no warranty. If I were in your position, I would sell the car. Resale values are still good on the 360's so moving up to a 2004 probably won't cost that much. BTW, I don't know if it was you but I was in Algar's when a customer took delivery of a 360 coupe. The salesperson told me the customer was driving the car home. I didn't think that was a big deal until he told me the car was going to Buffalo. Man, I thought that would be a lot of fun but kind of risky. I had heard horror stories of new cars breaking down for various reasons. So, were you the customer that drove the 360 to Buffalo? |
