I am doing my part. In the first week I let 5 of my friends, and 1 neighbor drive my car. They are all car nuts and really appreciated the opportunity. Hey, it is nuts and bolts, albeit more expensive than most cars. If it breaks it can be fixed regardles of who was behind the wheel. However, no front end scrapes, or curb rash on the wheels, those are my rules. Cars are meant to be enjoyed, not just looked at. |

A lot depends on who you hang out with and where you live. If your neighbors have Ferraris the odds go way up. If they have Ricers....not as likely. |

Numbers don't convey how lucky i am to have driven not one, but two Ferraris... Bart Duesler even said he'd let me drive his 550, i'm sure if Matt's car wasn't having problems, he would've let me drive it and there are other offers out there... It has absolutely nothing to do with enthusiasm - it's the people. The real luck is not in driving the cars but the privilege in being friends with nice people. Regardless of whether Matt has a Ferrari, he'd be my friend; 'cause he's a really nice guy. Same goes for Ron & Bob; JL, Byron, Sunny, etc, etc, etc... Driving Ferraris was one of the most awesome experiences of my life, but no greater an experience than meeting some truly altruistic people. Had i just found a Ferrari sitting in the street, keys in it, with no one around, driving it would've still been fun, but it would've been an empty fun. i was able to share my life's dream with people; the same people who made it possible. |

World population: 5,000,000,000. Ferrari population: app 100,000. For arguments sake, let's say each Ferrari gets an everage of 10 unique drivers that have not driven other Ferraris over it's life. That would make number of Fcar drviers at 1,000,000. Ratio would be 5000/1. Dave

My wife and I had a work-related dinner at our house about 4 yrs ago and I let 6 or 7 people drive my car. I've let a lot of other people drive it as well. Each one of them will remember their Ferrari driving experience the rest of their lives... and probably never own one. To me, that's a huge part of the fun of owning it. |

A year ago I never thought I'd ever drive one. Then in September of '02 our company's annual conference was in Las Vegas, where you can do ANYthing, including rent a Ferrari for $399 for 24 hours (and 100 miles). I was hooked (see profile). |

One way to get close to these cars is to hang out at a local dealer. I started doing this about every 3-4 weeks since I was 16. They let me drive my first Ferrari at 19 and I have been in everything new. Too many 355's to list, 360's Maranellos, a Diablo and an F50. If you do not know anyone that owns one then this can work for you. You just have to gain the dealers trust. |

Chad do you live at Tahoe ? I lived up in Incline Village for about 5 years, nice place. Ferraris are exclusive cars, that part of their mystique, If everyone could drive 1 it would be like a Toyota or a Ford pickup |

Well, there are approximately 6.102 billion people in the world at the moment. What's the total number of Ferraris that have ever been built? |

You can rent them you know!. They are not that rare. My wife even looked into it, but there were so many rules, and she knew that I would not be 100% happy about having to give it back ... well, we didn't bother in the end. Pete ps: Many mechanics do not own Ferraris that get to drive them, even my father ... who is not a big F car fan at all. Unreliable Italian rubbish like all other Italian cars |

Knowing that there is a limited production of these cars and taking into account the worlds population. I'm going to give my best guess. My rough guess.... less than 1% My closest accurate guess .00355% |

I have increase the number of Ferrari drivers by having my wife drive twice, one brother once, one brother-in-law once, & my son once. That's all folks. |

Well, I have contributed at least 5 or 6 non-f-car owners to drive my previous 308 and current 328. But you are right, it can't be very many. |

after reading DES second post on his awsome weekend. His details to being behind the wheel of the F-car and some post about cant wait for thier for thier first time to drive a Ferrari, what percent of the worlds population do you think will ever get the oppertunity to drive one (not own one) like i think of all the people i know (which isnt a lot) but i can only think of 4 probably out of 200-300 people i know that have driven one. so just wondering if anyone had some stats on this? or just think of all the f-car owners that are letting us non-owners boost that percentage up a little at a time. just a thought |
