Eddie never went to jail, but he was arrested. His shop still exists, and he's almost finished working on a new Porsche, which he hopes to get into the 7's with.

Yeah that was Eddie Bello's car... saw it a few times at the drag strip in MD. Unfortunately he was arrested for running a chop shop in NY. Not sure if he's out of jail yet or what happened to his Porsche tuning shop....

For the record, Allan was very nice to me when I first told him I got a 328 back in my NSXprime days...and I am younger than he is.

That said, thanks Allan!

Yes, ive seen the Hondas at the import drags! Silly fast. Some are in the 8's now. There was also a street driven Porsche that could run 8's on street tires, pulling wheelies in the first 3 gears at almost 170mph. For pure speed, nothing beats the Porsche, not Ferrari, not Lamborghini.

Richard: sent you an email off line on the Decss case. Imagine is now doing an exhaust survey and i bought a ruf from the manufacturer for them to test first, then ship to me for installation. Stephen there seems very cool and was a big ferrari fan, although a p-Car tuner.

Richard... that's a nice site... but why do all the sites with the fancy flash in front always look so cheezy once the flash is done? I'm sure those guys can work magic with P-cars, but the site is a bit harder to swallow.. :-)

Anyways, good luck with your 930. We had a bunch of those come on our drives from a group in So Cal called ByDesign - man, talk about monsters... those cars hauled a$$!

It was actually an M5 not an M3. Might be the same guy, not sure. Don goes all over the country but I am not sure if he has been to Florida.

The Stillen was a great car but everything imaginable broke on it. I finally got tired of the running costs. The motor was fine but the stock brakes were horrible, the trans sucked, and the seat fabric was real cheap.

I got out of tunner cars when I was still in college. Once I started working for a living I didn't have the time to constantly tinker with the car. I could do the 1/4 in about 12.3-12.5 which was pretty fast at the time but then the Supras came about with 600-700 hp running sub 11's at 133 mph.

Yeah we have a shop in maryland called Turbo Performance that has got some wild numbers out of those old single turbo's.

I think a lot of Ferrari folks got rioled in Fast and the Furious when the Supra creamed the F car.

Let's face it you can make anything fast. I've seen Honda CRX's (front drive) do sub 10 second 1/4 miles.

Anything can be made to go fast with the right amount of money.

No my buddy never had a M3, but a good buddy of his had E39, a yellow one and theyd go out racing together. The track is in Florida though. If the track is in Ca, im not sure if it was the same guy. There is only one 30th Purple Monterey Sv though. Only thing i can think of is that maybe he went to the track when he came to Ca, For the Running of the Bulls, an event he did 3 years in a row, that inlcuded 3 cross country, to and fro trips.

Stillen 300Zx, pretty cool. Always like those, kind of like a 928 with lots more power. If you want ultimate speed, buy an older 930 Turbo, send it to a Company in Florida i know, and depending on what you want, it will come back to you a 700-1000 rear wheel hp, 2500pd rocket, that nothing can touch.

Allan,

Sounds like it might be the same owner. I am not from the west coast so I don't know where the drag strip was. My friend lives north of San Diego and I seem to recall we drove at least an hour or two north to get there.

Is this the same owner who had an E39 M5? I used to frequent the www.bmwm5.com board for a while and there was also a person on that board that had a purple Diablo and lived in Ca I think.

My friend's name is Donald Richter and he owns a Lingenfelter Corvette that is supercharged. Supposed to put out well over 500 hp. He is in the process of having another Corvette built with Lingenfalter's twin turbo upgrade to the tune of 30K. That one is supposed to make 650 hp.

He knew the owner of the Diablo and had run against him before. Pretty amazing about your buddies clutch. Don has had a heck of time with his. Last count I think he had already pulled the second trans. He even called Pratt & Miller to see that they were using in the GM factory CR5's.

As for the styling on the F1 it's ok. Styling is never my number one factor, performance is. I think the Zonda looks better but I don't like the Enzo as much as the F1.

In the end all I would care about is hitting 230.

The styling is what I liked least about my 355 street car when I bought it. I was looking at 348's and couldn't pass up the better performance of the 355. Ideally a 348 with 355 engine and suspension would have been my dream car at the time.

I did however, buy the TR for it's styling. I traded in a much newer Porsche and my 500 hp 300ZX Stillen which were both faster.

Almost all Ferraris and Lambos are pieces of crap by any intelligent measure. They go fast and some even corner well, but compared to most Japanese cars all they do is go fast and occasionally corner well. That's it from any objective measure. So what we're left with is a cool body, cool engine sounds, lots of bills and big smiles from the thrill of it all. If one car goes a few mph faster or .01g better on the skid pad; well you might as well be arguing that corsa rossa is better than Lambo purple, or the horsie is cooler than the bull.

As for the Mclaren, it surely is a fast car, but im not a fan of the styling. There is one here in Scottsdale i see running around. Personally id take an Enzo, or a Pagani Zonda C12S.

Jon, i am friends with the owner of the Purple Diablo. It is a Monterey Sv. He is big into drag racing. His best with just exhaust and air filters is 11.6@123mph. No doubt that Vette is a faster car though with that mph though. But the Sv also has nitrous on it, and he has dipped in to the 10's at 133-134mph, with severe traction problems.

He has since sold that Sv. It was an amazing car. Hes probobly did atleast 100 dragstrip passes, tons of full on 220mph Nitrous using passes, dropped the clutch over and over, and after about 5 years of useage sold it, without ever a problem, still on the stock clutch.

My car has the exact same setup as his. And when we'd race back in Florida, we'd be dead even, with whoever got the jump holding their lead.

My guess is that it was at the Bradington track. He also has a twin turbo Corvette that made over 1100 rear wheel hp.

Allan,

Just curious what you car will do in the 1/4. I drove my friend's Lingenfelter last summer at the local drag strip and I got 11.7 at 126 and he got an 11.3 at 130+.

There was a modded Diablo (purple) with two hood scoops/inlets (SV ?) that did a 12.00 flat.

While you are saying it's not personal, and I don't take anything you say personal, I think you can see from all these posts that many do take it personal.

I still don't know what all the arguing is about. If the true measure of a cars value to you is indeed it's top speed than I can see why you don't like your 355 spyder. But to some of us that isn't everything.

And no doubt the Diablo and the Murci are awesome cars and better Ferrari's in some areas.

For top speed though the utlimate king is the McLaren F1. If I could only have one exotic and had an unlimited budget it would be that car over any Ferrari.

Even, you have to admit, Allan, that the F1 would dust your Diablo. 0-100 in 6.3 and faster acceleration from 100-150 than a real F1 race car, 0-150 in 12.3 top speed of 231 mph.

And to boot it's ten years old. As great as Ferrari want's you to think the Enzo is, the F1 is still king to me. Imagine if Gordan Murray built another one with 10 extra years of electronic/computer systems and composite materials.

Jon

Don, being the retarded bozo clown that you are, the car turns very well, trust me. Why dont you try looking up in some magazines, since they are after all the only source of numbers we have, and look up the stats in lateral G's for the Diablo and the F50, after all that is turning, correct?

That would be a very noble thing to work on indeed. Any exotic/sports car owner should do that regardless of their preferences.

If only the people that have given me rides knew how much it really affected me for life...It really has made a difference for me. I intend to do the same when I am fortunate enough to own an exotic car.

I have never really talked to you Allan, but I have read all of your posts...Despite your condescending tone, if you could accomplish this stuff, I could possibly change my mind about you. Who do you want to be remembered as? Beneath the wealth and power of an individual, there is a human life; a human soul. How is that soul going to be judged?

I would like to challenge you to a few things I have in mind. When a younger(than your age) fan gets his dream car, praise his/her accomplishment. I have found that many on this site have realized their Ferrari dream car much earlier than I did (48 years old) in life. Be happy when someone finds an older car to refurbish and be there to help if you have the advise or knowledge. Build up enthusiasm for your favorite car marque. Don't tear down to make your situation better. Give a waive back when a teenager gives you a thumbs up. Go to any car show and admire and compliment car owners that are showing their best. Build up, it will make you feel better. Give a terminally ill child a ride, he/she will never forget it nor will you. Be a promoter. Please return to the Lambochat.com (or similar) to build up your favorite marque. Above all be thankful for what you have and encourage others to do likewise. In a split second it could be all over, and only memories for the rest of us. Above all if you know of or are in the need of help while in Indy call me and I will try and be there to help. I'm sure others will add advise to add meaning to your life. Good Luck!
