Mark, when i was at shelton ferrari talking to them about the ideal f355 i want they right away told me everything about that F355 spyder and i said wow its great, when he showed it to me he then explained why no many people will want it because the color. Personally its a very very nice green in person, but if i was buying an 355 i would rather my first couple choices.

because you are looking at a 30K service $ 4500 and possible other problems (as Allan has laid out in his ranting post) 4300 miels in 6 years means problems no matter how you see it.

Martin,
Why would a 97 with 19K and "minor problems" be worth just 1K less than the 4K car with no problems?

I don't have, don't want a 355, so this is just curiosity.

I have to agree with Mitch here, has not been driven enough. Such a shame and really not all that great for the car. I also always have reservations about these low miles cars if that is true miles.

As for the question do I know that car, no! Never seen one with these wheels on. Pictures look like Pembroke Pines area, west Hollywood.

Scott,
the car I was offering at 20K Miles and did not need a service till 30K Miles or 2 years. yes it was listed for $79,000, sold it Friday but will come back to me on August 30th and be relisted with then 26K Miles and I may do the service at that point!

I have a 1995 F355B with 24K for $77K excellent
I have a 1997 F355B with 19K for $79K minor problems
I also can get a F355B 1995 with 29K Miles getting big service now for $ 75.000

Guys prices have come down.

Allan,

Why don't you sell your F355 spider to Dave for $70K?

Why spend the money on a coupe for what you can buy a Spider for? I paid less for a 5500 mile 1997 355 Spider yellow/black with records, services done, than you guys are telling him to pay. Id say low 70's is what its worth.

Jack,
Basically on TIME. The car is now 6 years old, and even in the best of circumstances, it would be advisable to perform a major service by 7 years. So within one year of purchasing, this car will require an engine out service to include all fluids, belts, tensioners, etc., if it has not already been done.

What kind of major service does a 355 need after only 4300 miles?

I spent many months looking for a 355 and I would say that you can not find a low mileage, documented and serviced 1997 B for anywhere near $80K. I bought a 95 low mileage well documented and serviced car from a Ferrari dealer. I paid a lot of money for the car, but it was by far the nicest one I had seen and the car needs nothing. The major service was done, the valve guides are done and the car has new tires, etc. etc. Sometimes a car looks like a bargain and you will end up putting a lot of $$ into it.

>>"asking" versus "selling". Martin (and I) are speaking of actual selling prices...<<

Agree...most asking prices start out high, after about $4K-$5K spent in advertising & ins.& upkeep after the 4sale sign goes on, reality starts creeping in.

I would agree with Martin's estimate. 80k tops, 85k if it was recently serviced...

These values keep going down in the minds of some, but not actually if you go to purchase a car. Martin, your number seems low. Didn't you have a 95 with 24K miles for sale a month or two ago for $80K and the car needed a major service?

You just said it.. Not the best color for quick turnover..

Besides, it doesn't really matter what the owner spent on maintenance and service... The dealer can fix anything cheaply.. They already have mechanics on payroll and the mortgage on the real estate for the service area..

Shelton Ferrari has a 97 Spyder 355 for $85k 20k miles, and owner just spent $20k (tires, headers, service) why such a good deal? Car is dark Green. Looks nice, but not the best color for a quick turn-over.

4300 Miles and some stone chips I woud inquire why it has stone chicps.
15K done or not?

To me the car is worth no big premium. $ 5000 premium at most. So $ 85,000

sorry just continued reading. So no service here goes the $ 5K premium! $80K.

Guys,
Due to a horrific personal tradgey my good friend is offering to sell me his Ferrari. I cannot get a straight answer form any dealership regarding this cars value.

1997 355 Belinetta, 6spd, red/tan, 4,300 miles, no accidents, some stone chips, tools, service records, no cover.

What is a market value of this car knowing that I will have to do a major service upon purchase.

Thanks for your help
