If there's not an Italian line in it, then the majority of the F50's lines are not Italian either...
Before the 360 came out, my wish was that Ferrari would take the ultimate Ferrari (the F50), tone its looks down a bit, and drive the price down under $200K, losing as little as possible. AFAIAC, Ferrari fulfilled my wish with the 360! And then my next wish they are fulfilling with the Stradale (as long as the price is $200K, not $300K!)!

It looks such a beautiful design. The front looks like a 360, the tail reminds me of the 456 and 575. The intended attraction, I surmise, is perhaps in the combination. Which is what Ferrari does best. In many ways, isn't Ferrari's success founded in mastering the art of combining different qualities with the optimum mix, such as street car usability with race car quality, extremity with practicality, and glamour with modesty, in just the right dose, to suit just the right taste? |

Thanks wm hart. That's what I like to hear. The GT4 is a classic design. Pretty soon these things will be selling in the 7 figure prices. Better get yours now while they are still affordable. Dom (President, GT4 Fan Club) |

I'm cool with it. It looks pretty fetchin in silver. But i don't really see much difference between it and the existing one. As to whether it will be a classic, i think about the 308 gt 4 by Bertone, which was a design failure at the time. To my eyes today, it is a nice design. Ditto la Daytona; at the time, alot of people griped not only about the old fashioned mechanical layout, but the extreme styling of the nose. Today, again, a classic. |

Frank... btw, it's Skyline, not skylane... I agree with Art - the only japanese car that ever came close to meeting "Ferrari" lines would have been the Honda NSX. Having owned one in the past, I have to personally attest to the joy of driving that car. Very easy to drive everyday - I was often asked if it WAS an Ferrari! Now, question for current 360 owners... is it worth the upgrade to the 1999/2000 360's? It's not in my very near future, but how happy have you been with the overall "package" that would justify someone moving up from a 348 or 355 to a 360? Are the 2000+ models THAT much better that I should wait a few years to get into one of those? Sorry... a little off the main thread topic here... |

It doesn't look like a Japaanese car. IF you stretch things maybe, but the Honda NSX, etc. were copies of the earlier Ferraris. We've come full circle. I suspect, but don't know, but that the 04 models, production starting in Oct. of this year will have these slight cosmetic changes, and maybe a little more power. I had the good fortune to get a loaner for a weekend, a 2001 360. You can say what you want, but if you haven't driven one, you don't know what you're missing. While the speed and acceleration is just a little better than a stock 355, the torque available makes the 360 seem a bunch quicker. The handling is indeed more solid, and overall the car just works better. Not quite as big a difference between the 348 and 355, but still significant. The difference between the 04 and the earlier 360s probably won't be all that much. But, then again, maybe it will. Art |

Frank, Just as I said on another thread, go to Maranello, stand at the factory gate at lunch time and tell them (with a straight face as you suggested) that the 360 looks ugly and "like a japanese car". Don't forget to tell them the 246 and 308 are not Ferraris. Use some protection when you perform that act. |

Frank, even I, would not go as far as to say the 360 looks like a Jap car. The 550, looks like a Supra, but not the 360. |

I'm glad to see some are actually posting something close to the list topic. Has anyone heard anything about timelines? I have heard that Geneva '05 is the date for the intro. Can anyone confirm that? Oh and by the way, anyone who thinks Ferrari's look made in Japan needs to get off the couch and go to the next Auto show and look at the Ferrari's, then wander around the show and if you cannot tell the difference in person, you should seriously consider just buying the next SUV you see and stay out of the left lane...forever! You see a Ferrari is about passion, not how many can we sell, not how many can we build, not what will Frank think about our design. The japanese are great at taking what is already known around the industry and improving upon it, a kind of outside-in approach. Ferrari looks to the inside and build, the car is created (not assembled by robots) with a soul that is bread into every Ferrari. My Ferrari will "live" with me as part of me. Honda/Nissan/Toyota will never, ever, not in 10 million years be able to produce that kind of car period.

The other article in the mag said if enough Americans ask for it they are going to put out the 456 replacement with an autobox. Now all I need to do is convince enough Americans not to ask. |

Frank you are wrong again ( I like teasing Frank) The 360 is a more rounded car. Not the slanted wedge that I loved in the 70's and 80's, But it is not a Jap shape. Take a photo of a 308 and 911 and put them on a computer morphing program... you get the 360. I like the look! Someone finally took that 911 shape and made it sooo low that it looks sexy. Only thing I don't like about the 360 is that the rear wheel well looks to small on the car. |

I never said it was somehow "wrong" to love a 360. I love the looks of a lot of Jap cars, NSX, WRX STi, Skylane and others come to mind. But, the fact is with the wind tunnel now dictating what high performance cars look like from Japan and Italy and .....everywhere else, they all are starting to look alike. IMHO the 360 looks like it was made in Japan not Italy. You would have to be blind not to see it. |

You guys can't tell me with a straight face that that thing doesn't look like a Jap car ! Even if you love the 360 with all your heart, be honest, its a Toyota/Honda/Nissan. There's not an Italian line in it. |
