Guys:

I plan on being there. I've been in Vancouver for the last week in deposition. The case just settled, and so I'll have a little more time off. I've got a party for a cousin of mine in Novato starts at 2, but should be able to make it at 8. don't know whether I'll have Diane with me or not. See you there.

Faisal, Dan: sounds good... If Taek-Ho is willing, I'll roll up with him in the C5.

Taek-Ho, do you mind giving me a ride, then? I'll be at 1025 Park Place (corner of Park Place and Saratoga, off E. Hillsdale Blvd)... do you mind meeting me by the Starbucks around 6 or 6:15, then?

Thanks!! Looking forward to it.

Taek,

Ripping a heart out with a spoon hurts a hell of a lot more than with a knife.... :-)

What's this about Porsche pedigree? Don't get me started about the modern cars....

Faisal: don't let me bore you too much - it should be a nice walk to Marin! ;)

Faisal,

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

I'll make sure to order something requiring a sharp steak knife in case a Lamborghini vs. Ferrari or Porsche vs. Ferrari war breaks out. It's an Italian joint so you guys will probably be holding SPOONS!! HA! Let the carnage begin...

Mario, if we look a little solemn, it's because Dan or Taek will be boring us, and we will be doing our best not to let the tears show. It's that whole polite attention paying thing...

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi folks. My name is Tariq. I have been lurking on this board for many months now. The dinner at Piatti's sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you do not mind if I tag along. You guys wouldn't be embarrassed if I brought my Boxster S along would you ?

I live in Sunnyvale. I look forward meeting all of you at the Hillsdale location.

Many thanks !

Art is coming!!!

Byron, Great idea. I was just in union square this afternoon soaking in the sun and scoping out the St. Francis. I concur that perhaps parking in front of Macy's on Geary would be the easiest. SO, if there are no objections, we'll meet there at 7pm.

Guys, if we're meeting by the Westin St. Francis @ 7pm, there might be some space directly in front of Macy's on Geary or in front of Tiffany's on Post. Powell is NOT a good street to meet... with the cabs, cable cars, and ppl, it will be a mess on sat.

Also, for the folks meeting at Hillsdale @6pm, would you guys like to meet near the Whole Foods market instead of the bank parking lot? There is ample parking right out front, on Park Place/Saratoga (across the street from Franklin Templeton Investments). Good landmarks are Whole Foods and Starbucks.

Dan,

Another car is on the way...

A classic and perhaps an interim car (while the classic undergoes restoration)? A Bull, of course, unless the wifey says no. Then I'm going to try to Jedi Mind Trick my dad into giving me his Continental which he hardly drives. You can't beat free... And although I wouldn't have earned it, it'll feel just as sweet driving it.

I don't think anyone is doing any sporty driving. Up to you, given that you'd be going from the east side as it is, so no one to race?

Hey, sounds like an excuse to a) steal the porsche back or b) buy another car :-)

Dan,

Turbo is being parked in Pleasanton until I find suitable garage space. The C4, although fixed, was given to my brother. I sold my R1. The Corvette is making funny noises. It runs fine, but I might have an exhaust leak (chirping noise). The Eclipse has been sent to BOS. The Z3 is undergoing a service, and I'm out of transportation. I can drive the C5, but much rather not do sporty driving in it.

So far we are up to 10 crazies: Dan and "friend", Kuzi, Byron party of 2, Ben, Faisal, Noel, Taek, and myself. Anybody else? Don't be shy. All are welcome.

I think Dan's plan is good. Meet 7pm at the St. Francis Powell street entrance facing union square. Might be a little congested with those cabs jostling for pickups. We'll manage.

FAISAL!!! Dude, you promised you wouldn't tell anybody about that night. Goddamnit!

Guys - I am good to meet wherever whenever. Of course, give me an hour's lead, because Faisal's so goddamn fast in that TVR the rest of the world spins backwards!

Actually, I think the best plan is Byron's derivative of Faisal's: meet at hillsdale (barnes and noble has a good sized lot, or maybe that bank next to the good guys, because it will be empty).

Right, so meet at the bank next to good guys at 6. Drive up to the Westin to meet Norm / Kuzi by 7 (we'll need a few minutes to talk). Make it to Piatti's by 8.

So where in all of this is Art??? And Steve??

I'd like to hitch a ride with someone if that's OK. Don't particularly feel like driving my C5 with this crowd. The Porsche situation has taken a turn for the worst since the move too.

Norman wrote he would make reservations for 8pm.
Other two constraints:
Meet in Hillsdale at ~7?
Meet Kuzi at 7~.30?
It's a little tight. Norman, can you please push the res. back to 8.45?

Remember, Dan will be driving. He wasn't the fastest before, with his M5. Now Norm's pawned off his slug on him, we will be lucky to get there before midnight. But then we can see Dan do his whole Cinderella thang... ;-)

The madman who drove the Porsche GT2 in the Gumball3000 event had a fantastic exhaust system on his 600+hp ride. His name's Rob Kenworthy and he goes by Lonman on the BMWM5.com forum. If you're interested, I am sure he will tell you where to get his setup.

www.bookatrack.com has some fantastic vids of him expertly drifting his car around bends at over 130mph. Complete nutter.

Byron,

I'm in Hillsborough - so San Mateo at 92 / Alameda basically.

Redwood Room - how the hell do you dance there? It's a GREAT bar type of thing (and I very much dislike the bar scene), but I don't know where the hell you'd dance. But, whoever's down for that, let's roll!

Byron - Piatti's is a pretty relaxed italian place. Nothing special, just a good location (right next to FoSF) and pretty good food.

Dr. Shelbee... Redwood Room is my stomping ground, believe it or not... :-) Love those lychee martini's...haha

I may just have to take Noel or someone else up on their offer to pick me up on the way up there... unless you guys don't mind me rolling up in my "scuderia" mitsubishi outlander!! haha...
(I can always do what Martin did at our party and slap on some scudie shields!) Anybody in the San Mateo area? I have an apt. right off E.Hillsdale and the 101.

Ok... off to sleep, now... looking forward to this weekend... btw, never been to Piatti's - what's it like?

So far, Dan and his mysterious friend, Kuzi, Byron party of 4, Ben, and myself make 9 so far.

Byron, looks like you guys had a LOT of fun!!! Can't wait to hear about it!

Dan, I'm surprised I was able to keep one step ahead of you, especially since I blew the 550 transmission from constant redlining. These Ferrari's are kind of fragile in that way!!!! :-)

Hey - so just to confirm, this is Saturday the 19th, yes? No one is confusing it for Friday the 18th...

Sounds like a plan guys. Is saturday night traffic in downtown SF going to be a bare for you guys? Although it would be way awesome too see and hear a bunch of Ferraris rumbling through and by Union Square!

Dan, I'll email or ring you in the next couple of days to finalize plans. Can't wait to meet you guys!

Best!

I've only been to that Piatti's once, with you, so I don't know anyone there.

But, count me in.

PS: Good call. I was just about to bring this up in the other thread. One step ahead of me, huh Norm? :-) Must feel good - enjoy it while it lasts. :-)

We should get a head count for the dinner with Kuzi and Byron this coming saturday at Piatti's in Mill Valley next to FofSF. We'll probably need reservations, unless Dan or Art have connections!?!? Let's try to finalise this by thursday night. 6.30pm ok for everybody? Thoughts? Suggestions?
