although I had a 1985 QV for 11 years, and a great car, I would choose the 328. Newer technology and nicer look IMO. |

I was in the same situation as John and Jim, just a couple of years earlier. The Feb 99 article in Forza sold me on the 328... 328 Buyer's Guide. Try to get a copy. Good luck! |

2 years ago I was faced with the same decision. I started looking for a QV, but all the really nice ones cost the same as a good 328. I bought the 328 and was thrilled to get it. |

i recently went through the same decision and decided on a 1989 328 and do not regret it at all. i think it is a much better car than the late 308...IMHO |

Gary, Chump change or not, 40K will buy you a really nice QV or a very nice 86-87 328. It is wise to hold back a few K because these cars almost always need something right after they are bought. Either way, its best to buy a car that someone else recently serviced and sorted...much cheaper than doing yourself. Keep us posted as you go along for more help. Dave Handa is right, lots of info in the archives. Best, Dave |

Someone made a good point recently. While the initial purchase of a 328 will cost more, the difference in upkeep can close the gap in a relatively short time. I started out looking for a 308 but decided I like the 328 better. Cosmetically, the differences are few and really a matter of preference. Mechanically, they made significant upgrades with the 328. |

You should be able to find a nice 86-to mid 88 328 for low 40's. You will find the selection of nice cars better, the newer they are. It is very difficult to find nice 308's these days. The available inventory of 328's is much better. This will still leave you with a few bucks for incidentals as well. Personally, I like the look of the QV better. If you do decide QV get an 84-85 as they have rust protection, all the earlier ones do not. That is why you will see them with rust spots on the bottoms of the doors. The 84-85's do too, but much less often. |

I am currently saving my pennies to buy a pre-owned F-car. I would love to have a 355, unfortunatly I am a working class stiff. I hope to have between 35 and 45K within a year. For the kind of chump change I will have, what car would be my best choice. |
