i have my V1 hardwired in my f-cars, with the remote display down on the steering column. i seriously looked into the rear mirror option previously for my M5 and 996s, but in the end one of the things i wanted was NO lights visible at night from behind - hence having the remote down in the gauge cluster. i think the mirror is a way cool option, but i didn't see it as $1K to $2K valuable, and it had some downside in my application. fwiw - my two pennies. doody. |

Dennis is largely right, although i don't think ultrasmith will be cheaper; my recollection is that they wanted close to 3 grand to do the mirror, supply a V -1, and install front and rear diffusers. The BMW one does seem like a total bargain, though. My issue is less that others can see the display than the elimination of clutter for myself, but, i tend toward the compulsive... |

Dan, the downside to doing the mirror-display install with the V1 is that you STILL NEED to mount the V1 somewhere. You have to mount it high with visibility to the front and rear. So, basically, you're paying $$$ for putting the Remote Display Module into the rear view mirror. Why not save the money and just mount the Remote display module in a lower position? Or just look at the V1 if you mount it next to the rear view mirror? That's what I do. It's mounted right next to it... barely visible from the outside of the car. And if you're looking from another car, to the rear, at night, the display on the mirror would be as visible as the diplay on the V1 itself. If you want to hardwire the V1 in your 360, we can do it in 15 minutes in the parking lot with little difficulty (a screwdriver, a fuse tap, and a credit card). If you STILL want to go with the mirror, you can buy it for a LOT less. http://www.ecisbmw.com/product_files/accessories/V1%20Display.htm (they use a BMW mirror, but I presume they'll do the same to a 360 mirror). Or go down to NYC: http://www.ultrasmith.com/newproducts.htm#"Valentine%20One"%20Radar/Laser%20%20Alert And if you poke around the web, you'll find do-it-yourself directions for how to etch and install in your mirror.... vty, --Dennis |

I have it as well in my wife's Cayanne. It's great but make sure they position the display so it doesn't distract you in the on/non warning mode. They had to redo ours as it caught my wife's eye which they did no problem. |

I have it. Its fantastic, cause you don't have to fool around with wires, suction cups, etc. In the past i used the k-40 and had a mirror custom made with one way glass behind which was installed the LEDs. This set up is even better. First, it uses the Valentine which is more effective in my estimation and has a much more informative display. The look of the finished product is first class. The rear view is a perfect display area, you naturally go to it with your eyes anyway, and there is no clutter in the car. Expensive, but worth it. |

Just clicked on the link for "beastpower.com" who appear to be selling a rear view mirror that integrates with the V1. Seems like an awesome idea to me, but maybe seems a bit expensive at 1K USD without the V1. Anyone bought one / have any thoughts? I saw the thread previously about replacing the clock, and I'm sure that would be cheaper. |
