Ryan, watch the end of the video, they did finish the Gumball. They were only detained for about half a day. There is a shot of the front end of that car when they were done...the paint was virtually sandblasted off on the front end by the Playboy party.

with the roof on and the windows up the car is incredibly loud

i was watching the 2002 Gumball 3000 where someone took their red F50 along for the trip. the entire time i saw them they had their roof off and had ear plugs in all the time. i'm sure that got old at about the 1,000 mile mark. i don't think they finished the race though. they were caught doing 186mph somewhere and got their car impounded for 30 days, and the driver was arrested.

tyson is right. the florida car is the ralph lauren car. the texas car is the paul frame car that was the first us f50 delivered. the paul frame car is probabley a better deal. not only is it cheaper, but most likely, better sorted out.

So I can get a decent 308 for the price of an F50 roof. Right. I hope it has a lock on it.

well, the fans are actually pretty powerful - that is, the air blows out pretty fast when you really crank it oup but i wouldn't call it "climate control". I would call it "the weather man".

This car was photographed at their location in Ft. Lauderdale. I can attest to that!

I hate to tell them, but the Texas yellow F50 is for sale too. I was at FOD on Saturday and it's in the showroom.

Kevin,
How's the climate control with the top off? The '50 Years of Ferrari' DVD I have states that is was designed to work with the top off. I've never been in ANY car that could claim that.

the roof on the f50 comes in a big box and it does go on and off which is great for places like where i live (seattle). The defroster doesnt work very good though. Also, with the roof on and the windows up the car is incredibly loud - your ears will be ringing when you get out.

I don't know how much they cost but they are carbon fiber also so the factor ones are probably in the $25k range.

The car does also come with a 'soft top' which buckles in right behind your head when you're not using it. I have never used it but i did open it up to see how it would go on. That costs about $2.5K for a replacement, again from the factory.

This car was owned by Ralph Laren. The other car is still in Texas.

I believe that was Paul Frame's car in Houston... which was also on the cover of the Feb 99 Forza. He also owned an F-40.

only 3306 miles on that!!! what the hell is wrong with that owner. it's a shame that this beauty is likely a garage car most of the time. this thing begs to be driven (at least that's what i'd do with it).

oh, and i like how they listed its body style as convertible, when as far as i know, all F50s have the removable roof.

Gary,

I'll be the custodian, I guess. I'll make sure nobody drives it and that the car gets at least 100 miles a month to keep the seals tight and all.

Cheers

If each of the member's of the chatline put in 3,000 we could buy it collectively. The only problem would be is where to keep it.
