Mark,
Disregard my questions-I just ordered the pipes from Stebro.$675 plus 35 shipping for the 575.
If I don't like it you will hear from my attorney!!!!

Mark,
I am interested too.My 575 has a tubi however I would like more growl.
Who do I order from? approx how long will it take to install? Is it same for 575 and 550 or are there special pipes for the 575?
TIA

Dave: WIll do.

Mark: Appreciate the input. Very tempted to do it. Just curious, whom did you order it from (Stebro direct, or some sort of reseller)?

Ze:

The 550 actually feels stronger with the crossover pipes on it than without. I know Ferrari claims more torque with the stock system due to the valve which opens at higher revs and wide open throttle but stays closed at lower revs/partial throttle but I don't believe it based on my driving experiences. I drove a 550 with stock exhaust first, then with Tubi and now with Tubi and crossover pipes. This last iteration is definitely the strongest. It really pulls harder in the top rev range. Besides the 550 has so much torque anyhow that I am willing to sacrifice a little(if that is indeed true) for proper V12 sound and better breathing at the top end.

Mark

Sure. Tell me when & I will ask him. He usually keeps it at his home--drives it rarely. I can ask him to bring it to his building, however.

Ze: Tubi should be able to send you something. More appropriately, I'd talk to a tubi distributor.

Dave: Well, I'm due in Houston soon as it is. Will be about middle of August. Maybe we can head over to SW's and take a peek?

Does anyone have links to dyno curves comparing the stock exhaust with a Tubi ?
I agree that the stock exhaust sounds mellow. The 550 I have my eyes on has a Tubi, sounds great at idle and very low revs but gets more ordinary higher up, I agree. Still I'd be worried about loosing torque or power with exhaust tweaks. If it's like bikes, the less you tweak the exhaust, the better they run.

Dan, I have not ==driven==it with the x-pipe...but it sounds louder & even more "snarly" than mine with just the mufflers.

Alex: A friend of mine has a hookup with CarGraphic. Email me if you want his info.

Dave: What are your impressions of the 550 with CG and x-pipe vs just CG? Very curious.

Mark, many thanks! SW had told me it was a cut & weld job--glad it isn't.

Just out of curiousity, what was the approx. cost of the Stebro x-pipe?

Dave:
Actually, you don't have to cut anything to put the crossover pipes on. Just loosen brackets at the fron and rear sections of the resonator and replace with the crossover pipes. So, if for some reason you wanted to go back to stock it is easily done. I watched my mechanic do the work...appears very straight forward. By the way Stebro claims an 8BHP increase for what its worth, but the sound is amazing.
Christopher:
I have never had an encounter in the M with a Viper yet. The low end power of the M is fantastic but where it really comes into its element is at speeds above 100mph and with the Koenig chip, at RPMs above 7,000. It hits the rev limiter at 7,800. The whole note of the engine hits a higher octave above 7k when it develops a shrill race car sound, truly spine tingling. Nothing that has come up against it including an early series Diablo has been able to touch it so far in a straight line.
I track most of my cars but have been a bit reluctant with the M due to its relative rarity. The whole package is really amazing and I think will be viewed in 20 years as one of the greats of that era.
I really need to post some photos but I am not too computer literate. I will see if I can get someone who knows about these things to help with that.
Regards,
Mark

Dan where did you get your Fuchs? My 575 simply sounds too mellow for what it is and I'd love to beef up the sound.

Mark, read alot about your F512 M. Just wondering, how does it fair against Vipers in general? If possible, post a picture of the F512M and 550.

No, the CG is just muffler only. You will need to cut & weld a special (Stebro or custom-made) x-pipe in place of the resonator to complete the picture. My friend SW has it on his 550--really nice. I am tempted, but am hesitatant to actually cut my exhaust system...

I honestly don't know if the CG exhaust has a crossover pipe. Dave?

Dan- your 550 is one of my top ALL TIME sounding cars ever!

Do you think it has the crosover pipe already? The sound is very high pitched and quite nice, to say the least!

Best!
Ben.

Have you heard a Fuchs/CarGraphic exhaust yet? I am very pleased with that sound, but wonder how it would be with this in addition.

Just received the 550 back form my mechanic. For those of you who have a Maranello and think it is too quiet I can't say enough about how this has improved the sound of the car.
I have the Tubi muffler but it really was way too mellow at rpms above 3,000, even at full throttle. I ordered the crossover pipe from Stebro to replace the central resonator(basically a second muffler) and the car now sounds like a proper V12....glorious! It simply screams at full throttle and gets louder the higher in the rev range you take it.
Stebro charges something like $575 for the pipe and the installation was simple according to my mechanic. If anyone wants more sound from their Maranello this is the way to go IMHO.
Regards,

Mark
