doody, what year is your 355 Spider? I dimly recall that it's a 99, right? hmmm.... I know that early Spiders had 348 Spider seats, which are close to the 348 tb/ts seats, which are very narrow in the thigh area and incredible uncomfortable for us bigger guys. The 355B seats were a huge improvement, but the Spider didn't get improved seats until later. I've driver/ridden in a 98 Euro 355 Spider with the newer seats, and they were a huge improvement. But if yours is a 99, it should have the newer style seats. Hmmm... can you post a pic of your seats? vty, --Dennis |

I have a business card somewhere at home for a guy at Dennig Motors. I was in Newport Beach for a job interview and stopped by FOC just for the heck of it and to test fit a 355 to make sure I fit.. a guy from Dennig Motors was there dropping off a car for PPI and overheard my concerns about fitting into a spider vs. Berlinetta and stopped to chat with me for a while. Apparently, they have 'tall man' conversions for the spiders, including the option of replacing the seats with Berlinetta seats. The only real issue is that you have to remove the seat motors, so anytime you put the top up or down you have to manually slide the seats forward. I guess this would solve your problem of the uncomfortable seats, as long as you don't mind the extra effort when opening and closing the top. Their website is www.dennigcars.com and their U.S. phone number is 949 916 9216 .. suppose it's worth a shot. -R |

when they had to design a drop top for the F355, they apparently had to make some serious sacrifices in the seat design to accomodate everything. every time i see a GTB or GTS i have to stop and drool over the seats. even the 550 doesn't have the extending thigh support! they are great seats in those cars. i can last about 60 minutes in my car before i start to get fidgety. not "uncomfortable" per se, but not how i'd prefer to be. do any owners have suggestions on improvements? are there viable alternatives? any thoughts appreciated. doody. |
