The price is way off. Just sold my 89TR with 17,000 miles with the 30K service as a trade in to a dealer for $59,000 a US version car.

Marcus;
that asking price is WAY OFF !
The 30K service is about $10K for this 12V engine. It should have been done 2000 Miles ago, although that really does not matter that much. But it has to be done NOW!
A 1985 is the first year model and will have some unforseen things happening to it. You should at least discount the Euro with $5,000 possibly more. The same car you will find in the US for $ 50,000 in good condition $ 55,000 if you look around. So lets add this up $ 55,000 minus $ 5,000 Euro, minus $ 10,000 30K inspect....$ 40,000 would be the true price for that car. That is ONLY if the car is corsa red. Discount another $ 2,000 to $ 5,000 if it is any other color.

Example I was offered a 1992 512TR with 28;000 Miles, no 30K done for $ 78,500! A 1989 1/2 to 1991 Testarossa should be $ 55K to $ 65K and the early ones never more than $ 55K.

For the Same money, you can buy a very good 86 US TR with less than 20K miles with the service done. Shop around, US is always better than a Euro in the US for both parts and resale.

I am not a TR specialist, but I think a US spec 85 TR goes for around $60 or so. A Euro which need a major service should not be as expensive. If you buy the Euro spec correctly, you will not take the hit when you sell. It is harder to sell a Euro spec Ferrari.

Hello,

I have lurked around on this site for a while (interesting conversations I must say) but this is my first post.

I am thinking of buying a Euro 85 TR (VIN zffta17b000057077) from one of my clients. The car was brought over to the US in 92 and converted to US specs. It currently has 32k miles on it (current owner uses it as daily driver), and since I have borrowed the car from him a couple of times I know all the "quirks" that comes with it, so there should be no surprises. I also met with the independent ferrari mechanic who has taken care of the car for the last couple of years, and he says the engine is in good condition, with the exception that the 30k service needs to be done shortly.

The seller is asking $60-65k, but since the 30k service has not been performed yet I should be able to get it lower. Is that a fair price for the age/milage?

Will the fact that the car is an Euro model bring down my eventual resell value significantly? (Want to upgrade to a F355 or 360 one day)

Are there any issues with getting a such early model of the TR?

Thanks,

Marcus
