The AC stands for ACE which is the body used for the Cobra. The ACE is an English sporstcar. I have used the old Spark plug cleaner many times. All GM Dealers had to buy them in the mid 70s to clean spark plugs because of fuel fouling of the plugs when they came out with the High Energy Ignition systems. This system was great but if you started a new car and did not let it warm up it would fuel foul the plugs and the Warranty claims were going through the roof. Salesmen had to learn to let the cars warm up if they moved them around the lot.

I have to say I too have noticed this Edward. I have at least 3 perfectly good sets of caps, rotors, and plug wires for my jeep. It seems everytime it's running rough I replace them for the hell of it. At like $40 though for them all a whole tuneup set it's not really bad, try doing that on the Ferrari though and you'll have to give up your first born son.

Edward I used a spark plug cleaner last weekend, I think my dad does really have everything. I guess he used to clean the plugs on his vettes at least once a week. It's a pretty cool thing, basically a decent size bucket that has just a little hole in the top that you stick the end of the plug in and then press down a lever and it sand blasts the end of the plug. I always saw this thing kicking around somewhere in the back of the shop and never knew what it was. I figured you would appreciate my old style car work. It was made by AC, I think Alice Charmin which is AC Delco now. I was wondering what the AC from an AC Cobra stands for?

Almost all caps and rotors will last over 100,000 miles. Most are replaced needlessly with nothing actually being wrong with the part.

I was also thinking of purchasing the system from Nick Forza because of the high cost of distributor caps and rotors for the 308/328. Any thoughts from others out there.

I have one of the Electromotive units on my 308 but the only reason is that the original system was giving trouble and I could purchase the aftermarket system cheaper than fixing the original. If my original system was working OK I would not have changed.

Russ,
I believe Nick sells the Electromotive, crank fired, ignition systems. This is a really nice system to replace distributors on the 308 series F-cars. But isn't the 328 already crank triggered? If so, I'm not sure what the benefits would be for you except perhaps, adjustability of the timing curves.

Bob. No problems at all. Just academic interest. Nick (Forza) sells such a system and I was wondering what the benefits would be.

Russ, are you having problems with your ignition system? I haven't heard about 328 ignition system problems in general... I'm from the old school, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

What's the touted benefit?

Does anyone have any thoughts on these systems which cost about $1500 and are said by some to be a must have for 8 cylinder Ferraris.
