I bought a Canadian 550 from a US dealership. It was painless and all US Ferrari dealers cover warrantee work. In fact, within a week after I bought it, I was at the dealer who did the wheel change-out for me (the 550's need a whole new set of wheels because hairline cracks developed near the lug nuts). I asked around the country before going ahead with the purchase and was assured by everyone, including FNA, that there was no problem as long as I had certified mileage when the speedo was changed out. |

I sold a car to the US from Toronto. All it needed was a letter from the manufacturer stating it meets all DOT and EPA standards. GM provided the letter for $70 and the new owner had no problem driving across the boarder and registering it in California. Must be a similar process for Ferraris. |

Correct on all accounts, Nika. Years of killing myself in Montreal for the GP tell me so! As one of those Chicago F-Chat boys, I agree whole-heartedly with what Mr. Sawyer is suggesting. I mean, what better sales method than word of mouth? |

(Nika scribbles cheque.......it bounces out the door) SURE!!! I'll buy it now. MANY Cdn cars go to the US - apart from the Speedo (and I'm NOT talking bathing suit guys) the only diff is our bumpers have to be a 5mph instead of your 2 or 3 ...if I remember correctly. See - our beer, women, hockey AND cars are all better!!!! |

Michael: When the Chicago F-Chat boys are at the dealership give them the keys. Let them drive it for, oh, say 100 miles at 150+ mph. Then they'll let you know what it's worth (if there's anything left). |

The car is not a grey market car. It has North American specifications, and was registered in Canada (British Columbia) then in California, and now in Illinois. We are asking about $10-15K less than two comprable USA cars we sold last week. They were a black one and a red one. I can't imagine that it is the yellow/black color combo that is putting people off. |

sounds like you have just about all the required stuff - just need dot. Is the price slightly lower than a US car, if not that the problem. Why buy canadian if it costs the same as a US car |

Hi everybody! I was wondering what everybodys' opinion is on owning a Canadian spec car here in the US. We have a gorgeous yellow 550 Maranello for sale that is a Canadian car and I personally feel that it is a great value, yet a few prospects were turned off because it is a Canadian car even though it had a MPH speedo installed and had the day-time running lights modified. All of your thoughts on this subject would be appreciated. |
