I've replaced old tires with plenty of tread. They get dangerous in the wet with age (6 or 7 years with a mostly-garaged car in my personal experience). Look at them CLOSELY. Do you see many little cracks between the tread blocks?

Tires get hard with age. I had an air valve on old tires break off once. I thought just because they had no tread wear they'd be fine. I had just finished a 'spirited' drive and would not be here now if it had broken during it. I would change 11 year old tires no matter what they look like, especially on a Ferrari or any sports car. They will likely fail when you can least afford it. Besides, when I bought 4 new ones, the cornering and handling on the new, soft rubber was significantly better. |

Feel the tires. If they're really hard, you might need to replace them. |

Over time, and at ten+ years you're there, the tires get hard and can crack around the side wall. If there is not any cracking they are safe for normal driving, but not anything sporty. You'll be very happy with the improved handling you'll get from new tires....Norm |

I am surprised the tread it still left? anyway you should be ok, I would not track the car or go over 90mph with them but not a crisis where you need to buy tires tommorrow. In the end you prob want new tires so just get them sooner than later. |

What is the shelf life of tires? How long do tires last in terms of the rubber compound changing as opposed to the tread wearing down? I have a 1991 348 with the original Bridgestone RE71 on the front. My impression is these can't perform as well as they did 11 years ago. Can they? I also have a Porsche with Pirelli P7s. When was the last time that tire was made? Years and years ago. The amount of tread is still adequate, but these tires are old. |
