Michael, you are absolutely correct. The insurance companies also want to know if the structure is concrete block, frame, etc. |

I also agree -- find indoor storage but be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water. Verify that the storage place will actually cover damage or theft to a car. I have seen contracts that cover up to $100,000 with a maximum of $2,500 per item. See the catch 22. And if they won't at least make sure your insurance will-- Some insurance have "hidden" clauses that talk about leaving the car unattended for long periods of time in places other than primary residence or garage. Make sure you don't have that situation. |

I concur with Frank, I just envisioned what could happen to a Ferrari kept outside, and it ain't pretty. PLEASE look into a storage place....a few Franklins a month can save your TR from vandalism and theft. People would LOVE to have some Ferrari emblems. I'd sleep outside before I kept my Ferraris outside. |

Check with your insurance company first. Many will not insure cars in storage sheds meant for boxes and such. Especially an exotic, they might require security etc. |

Why not just rent one of those storage garages for a couple of months ? I wouldn't want to leave my Ferrari outside for two months. |

Patrick, Being a collector I can speak from experience. Don't get a cover that has a lining in it. They cannot breathe and they hold moisture. Get a simple nylon cover that is light and can breathe. As for the door dings, good luck I haven't heard of a car cover that will ward of door dings. |

My 88 TR is going to have to live outside in Southern California for a couple of months. I have an old custom cover that isn't very weatherproof, but I want to order a new one that will protect from the elements and maybe even protect from door dings, etc.. Which companies and what materials have you used and how happy are you with the cover? The bulk of the cover is not too relevant since I will rarely take it along, but protection from sun and light rain is paramount. Thanks in advance! |
