Stupid question:

How silly would it be to tow a rear drive Ferrari on a dolly? Blasphemy?
I live in an area where I could not store a flatbaed trailer, but I could probably put the dolly next to the side of the house. Would it even be legal in California to tow the car facing the other way (rear wheels on dolly, front wheels on the ground, with the steerinh wheel locked?). If the stop lights of the towing vehicle are visible, do I need the magnetic ones on the roof?

This would only serve as local transport, I would not tow the car like that for long distances. It is a GTE, so it has more ground clearance than more recent models.

Trying to think of what car related thing to put in the letter to Santa...

Dumb question: how do you exit the car once on the trailer? It looks as though the trailer's wheel wells are blocking the doors.

belt + suspenders approach might be to do BOTH wheels and lower A arms...no chains, tho.

Dave
Straps. As an additional safety cross straps front and rear attached to lower control arms.
LEAVE IN NEUTRAL! BRAKES OFF!!!
Use 2x6 as a help if nose scrapes.

Martin,

In total agreement.

I believe in driving it rather than paying to have it transported.

However,I have a work situation where it would be best to do it from a Class A motor home. So I will tow the Ferrari as an everyday car.

Spent more than I planned, but I bought this trailer over the weekend:

I assume then that one uses high quality straps rather than chains. Is this true? Always heard that one should use chains with vehicles.

Are there any issues with the strap comming off the wheel?

Do you lock the brakes or leave it in gear?

Are there normally issues with scrapping the bottom of the Ferrari getting it in or out?

How about a dovetail trailer?

Thanks for the info.

The correct way is to drive it and leave the trailer home! Upload

I put the straps through the lower a arms and cross them at each end. My mechanic transports cars worth millions like this, so I figure it's fine for my 328. Traveled over 4K total like this so far.

By using a ratchet tie down over each wheel. This allows the car suspension to move and not stress the tie downs.

On my trailer I had holes in the floor which lined up where the car fitted ... thus a ratchet tie down through the trailer and up over each wheel and down to the trailer again, and she will never ever move.

What is the best way to secure a Ferrari to a trailer making sure it is secure but not damaging it?
