Since it appears that all you young whippersnappers don't have a clue I will go ahead and print the answer. The syatem was called "Free Wheeling". It utilized a Sprag, or Overrunning clutch that was added internally to the rear of the manual transmission. It operated with a handle connected to a cable that shifted a fork that would either engage the Sprag or lock the mainshaft to the driveshaft. You would have to disengage it to go in reverse. It was used only in 1932 and 1933 and was considered dangerous as unfamiliar people would gather too much speed downhill and the unit was disconnected on most cars.

This weeks question is a two part. Chevrolet introduced a feature that enabled you to change gears without using the clutch and allowed the car to coast down hills without engine compression slowing you down. What was this system called and what years was it used?
