I think as long as it's repainted an original Ferrari color used on your particular car at the time, it should'nt really matter.I would buy one if done right. |

>>Would you buy a f-car that had been repainted.<< It wouldn't phase me in the least. In fact I wouldn't buy an older Ferrari unless it had been repainted (well done of course). Paint is a service item just as is oil (longer life cycle is the only difference). When it's no longer nice, out goes the old and on goes the new. |

Original Ferrari paint from any year is nothing to go championning from any rooftops. Their quality varys greatly from car to car and is good at best (we are talking from an experts point of view; the average consumer can't tell the difference) Getting your F-Car re-painted by a top quality shop (and there are lots out there) will yield a paint job that will easily match or better the factory finish. Ferrari's are no different than any other car to paint well. 90% of the labor is in the prep and Ferrari actucally makes colour changing easier by making the trunk and engine compartment black in all of its cars. |

I am getting my Challenge car repainted and actually color changed right now. No biggie! The Mondial 8 on my website has been color changed by the same guy doing my Challenge and you can not see anywhere that the car was white before and is not black! Sure I would buy it although I believe it devaluates the car a little. Just a tad if it is done right. |

I would buy one if done "correctly" and doesn't look like it's been repainted. The first rule of a good repaint is that you shouldn't be able to tell that it was repainted! That includes no different colors under weather strips, under bonnets; in door jams etc. There are a number of shops across the country that have the talent to repaint a Ferrari. Just because it is a Ferrari, doesn't require any 'black magic". The key in any paint job is prep work. Prep work=time. Time=$'s!!!You can not cut cut corners to get a good paint job. The paint is simply a reflection of what's underneath it.Half-ass prep will result in a half-ass paint job. Car needs to be dis-assembled to a certain degree; body difficiencies corrected(ie: dings, rust, etc); stripped to metal( for a quality job); primer/sealed;sprayed;finish polish; re-assembly; and final polish. This is overly simplifying the re-paint process. But, the point is all of this takes time. There are a number of excellent shops out there that have experience doing restorations and high-line paint jobs. Best to take time, check their facilities; and look at previous examples of their work. Because of all the time involved, and their shop rates, most dealers are not going to be competitive. |

Even most F-car dealers send this kind of work out rather than do it in-house. I understand that Ferrari of Atlanta sends (or at least used to send) the work out to Bo Pirkel. My own 308 was repainted via Ferrari of Atlanta when it was still almost new. Originally special ordered as a metallic maroon, the first owner decided he wanted it red after all! He had the dealer disassemble the car as much as possible and repaint it Rosso Corsa. So the paint is pretty much the same age as the car, but not factory original!
