well I have owned and driven the 360 and have driven the gallardo.

Im not claiming to be any expert just passing an opinion and also the opinion of every test magazine in the UK. There is NO doubt that dynamically the lambo is a better car in terms of capability. Obvioudly looks, asthetics ect are matters for personal consideration.

You are always going to get some people that maintain a 348 is a better car than a 355 , but lets face it - not many!

Martin
I love experts who feel they know that one car is better than another. Better for what? Better for whom? Is the rack of lamb at the grill room in the Hotel De Paris better than the Lobster at the Lobster Box in City Island or the steak at Peter Lugar's in Brooklyn? Different yes. Better?
More importantly untill YOU have tried them all how would you know? Because someone else eats/drives something and tells you?

since we do not know how the replacement of the 360 will weather how do you know that the baby Lambo is indeed better?
You must have some very good connections to Ferrari there! Can you enlighten us a little with more details? I am sure they also e-mailed you pictures of the new 360Modena, right?

well why wait all that time when you may as well buy a lamborghini galliardo which is a far better car than a 360 anyway!

Question--if you're wait-listed for 5 years, how do you even know for sure what model Ferrari you'll be buying? Hypothetically, you could give them your deposit, a new model could emerge and you may not even want that one.

If you are in Fort Lauderdale, the best place for purchasing a new or used Ferrari IMO would be Shelton Ferrari. Ask for Bud Root or Wil Campbell.

First, thank you all for your helpful insights, as they got me thinking again. The reasonable action at this time would be "patient," yes I have that fever as well. :-) Will try making contacts with dealerships, and I will post any developments here. As Martin said, doing it like Eli, get Modena first, then sell later for a Spider, sounds good. But so far, I've seen 355s but not so many Modena (1999-2002/3). Meanwhile, if you by chance spot any of those, would you please let me know? I will write again. By the way, what is F series? For tracking, you mean? Thank you. :-)

Anyonghashimnika, Kim Joong Hyok-shi. Welcome to the land of fruits and nuts! I'd be reluctant to give a dealer 10k for 4-5years while waiting for a spider. Better to buy a used Modena or 355 spider and use it to decide if you like the marque and want to sign up for the 360 (or replacement) spider. If you buy from the dealer you're talking to now, it's less likely that they'll want as large (or any) deposit, as they'll know you're serious.

Get on the list for the Spider, be first in line for its replacement. In '4 or 5' years, the 360 will be gone.

$99K for a 20K Miles 1995 F355 Spider is NOT reasonable!

I have one at asking $ 95,000 and it is a 7,000 Miles 1998 car, although Euro still the MUCH better deal and the seller will likely move a little more! Red/black.

$110K for any Spider 355 is overpriced right now. Maybe a prestine Fiorano Package buut that is about it.

As for your 360 Spider, you may want to try to get on the list if the $10K do not hurt you. Or do it like Eli and buy a 360 Modena and get on the list of the 360 Spider as well. When the Spider comes sell the Modena and drive Spider.

use the internet to locate some interesting cars. talk to the dealers that have them. there's a lot you can learn just through basic 10 minute conversations.

don't buy until you feel you're relatively well educated. you're not looking at 250 GTOs - there's plenty of whatever you want out there, so take your time. patience is a virtue when it comes to ferrari hunting. it took me 6 months to find my 355.

when you get close, search the archives and post here to get feedback on the car, dealer, process etc. --- most everybody is happy to help!

good luck! enjoy the search!

Joong Hyok, welcome. There are a few things you can do to educate yourself. At the bottom of the page, click on "search" and type in the relevant key words...360, Modena etc. The archives are very useful. Second, contact a few dealers and let them know you are looking for one seriously and will buy. I believe you will find one at fair prices if you are patient. Finally, contact Martin at www.4ferrari.com. He is one of the sponsors here and has helped many get theirs at good prices.

I agree with Ken, stay away from the New Auto Toy Store... I believe that Motorsports of Scottsdale have a new 360 Spider with delivery miles on it. www.motorsportsofscottsdale.com . Another thing... You may want to stay away from the F1 gearbox, lately they have been horror stories. 99K is reasonable for a 95 355Spider according to Cavallino. People probably like the Spider over the coupe because of personal preferance and they will get more back at resale. Hope this helped.

Avoid the Auto Toy Store at all costs. They have a very poor reputation.

Hello, Every One. I'm located in Northern Virginia and need your advice on purchasing a new Ferrari, at last! First, I've been told by the dealer that I have to be wait listed for 4-5 years for a 360 spider, whereas 1 year for a Modena. Okay, so I can just place an order for either with the downpayment of USD 10,000 and wait. (Why do people prefer Spider to Modena?) Secondly, however, I could purchase a used, low mileage 2001/2003 model from out of state, for slightly more (or much more) plus transportation costs since there was none available at the dealership. Third, I am kind of getting to think, may be get a used one such as 355 spider and drive it daily until the new car is delivered. One that the dealership had is a 1995 355 spider with 21,000 miles, for USD 99,000. Is this price reasonable? I called The New Auto Toy Store in Ft. Lauderdale and they said they have about six 355 spiders, but the red exterior is offered for USD 110,000. Is this reasonable as well? With this purchase thing going forward, I would very much thank you for your time and consideration in advance.
