I remember being at one of the local speed shops and seeing an old, very ordinary, bone-stock Skyline pull up. I swear, you'd think the driver was giving away $100 bills the way everyone flocked to it... totally ignoring an impressive full-race Dino a few cars over.

308 at 9MPG , must be something wrong. Gota get 12 in the city and 17-18 on the road. Best I got was 310 miles on a tank but usually get 275 miles on a tank. Daily drive is 50 miles round trip mostly HW. 2 Hummers in the area but no other F cars. I also heard that 60-70% of the hummers are purchased by women. Must be the Thunderbird of SUV's

BTW my city/county population is around 225,000. I think that may keep the number of 60K + Tonka Trucks pretty low. They are fairly exotic around here, but a FERRARI?? Extremely rare. I know of two 328's and possibly one TR... Maybe there are a few garage hotties I don't know about!?!
Rich... no worry. Hummers can't make it to 70MPH without the optional 75 gallon fuel tank and Fred Flintstone Floor modifications.

Greg
My enjoyment of the 308 has not diminished as result of people checking out my H2. I feel a passion and quality in my 308 that is lacking in the H2. I drive my 308 for me. If I wanted to impress people, (personal opinion mind you).. I would have bought NEW and pasted a vanity "Ferrari" license plate on the back!

William H... LMAO!! I actually thought the reason may be the SIZE of the H2.

I've seen about 20 H2's out here in Ohio but theres about 8 ferrari's out here in fact i seen a blue 360 spider a few days ago as I was going to the mall. To me its just a big truck and I prefer my 308 better and still draws a crowed when I take her out.

Brian, just remember that your stopping distance from 70 mph in the Hummer is 244 feet. (compared to 166 in a 575 Maranello). That is the longest stopping distance, by far, of any vehicle tested by car and driver mag.

That is one vehicle I don't want behind me on the highway. It's headlights are blinding, and it can't stop and when it hits me its height will send it right over the rear of my car and right into my neck. Ouch.

People are not impressed with the ugly thing they just want to see what kind of idiot would buy one. Must be the BD syndrome.

Martin, That web site has been around a long time and yet it still makes me laugh.

I see a lot of H2s here, and they all make my head turn (I'm figuring they don't see me way down near the road so my head turning is mostly an act of survival Upload )

Hey Brian, at the last Bay Area dinner get-together, a yellow H2 Slooowed... then... stoped... to stare at Vincent's 348 (and the rest of the F-cars parked together.)

Kinda scary how many H2s thereare around here actually.

Best!
Ben.

i agree ... the 308 is 20 years old as is still as beautiful as it was then... the H2 will be replaced by the next "best thing" in 2-3 years...

see alot around the suburbs north of Toronto...

nice design in a rough n tough kinda way... but it just has that.. "cant get my hands on a REAL hummer so this one will have to do" kinda quality...

i wouldnt turn one down if someone gave me one tho.. but if i wanted to buy something like that i think i'd continue saving my pennies for a REAL Hummer... the ultimate 4x4... i'll go out on a limb here, but that thing STILL has the head-turning power equal to an Enzo..

So you certainly don't live in Houston. Here the H2 is everywhere. Already they are blending in with the SUV crowd. I often see a half dozen or more on the way home from work every day.

Brian M,

Does your enjoyment of your 308 diminish as a result of other people not noticing it?

I'd like a hummer.

And as for the SUV, as Ferrari people no one is commenting about being blinded by SUV headlights? I personally get on a soap box about road vehicle incompatibility. The SUV bumper is at the drivers window, for god's sake.

My ratty old Range Rover gets way more looks that my 308...
But that's due to "Bear" being in the back seat.
It's amazing how many near accidents happen when people try to get a look at a 230lb English Mastiff. :-)

"There are only 5 or 6 H2s in my city. There are only 2 or 3 F cars that I know of."

I was laughing because I though well he must be living in one small town. Then I am thinking well in my tonw we have 4-5 Hummers and 3-4 Ferraris. But then my town is only 8 streets over 8 streets. Most people mistake it as a part of Miami Beach but it is its own government.

I think that more people are interested in SUV's than exotic sportcars, so my Cayenne Turbo als gets more reactions on the street than my Daytona.

Yeah, I guess I'll enjoy it while I can. There are only 5 or 6 H2s in my city. There are only 2 or 3 F cars that I know of. I'm sure the F car will be the king again. And no matter what the F is still my favorite

Won't the equal test be to see if the H2 still turns heads when it's 20 years old?

I've had my 308 GTSI about 3 years and it is a beautiful car. Surprisingly my new H2 is grabbing even more attention than the 308!!! What gives??? Perhaps it's just the "new vehicle" factor? I found it very interesting and unexpected because I never thought a truck would turn more heads than a 308... just posting an observation so please don't bite my head off!!
