I think chrome wheels are a bit boyracer style.
This is my car.

Upload

I wheel with spokes like the F355 or something like mine look really good.

Some wheels are oer the top in design and make the 348 look not as good.

David, I got your e-mail. Thanks for the heads up!

I wasn't going to send any money, you would have to be pretty gullible to do so. This leads me to believe that this todd character who initiated the thread either fell for it and is about to lose his money or is the seller of the wheels trying to scam people.

Todd,

I have 360 wheels on my 348 ( see profile )

I just installed them a few weeks ago - see the following thread for more detailed discussion, I say this because the 355 wheel and 360 should have a lot of similarities.

EVERYONE - Especially Ernesto -

Stay away from this guy - he uses either of these 2 e-mail's -
[email protected]
[email protected]

He is not legitimate - My first communications included him e-mailing me a photo of 360 challenge wheels then standard 360 wheels - both photos I recognized from previous e-bay auctions that sold at legitimate prices -

He just stole the photo. His e-mails are filled with "sir".

Stay away from this guy.

This was my conversation (via e-mail) with the seller of the wheels:

SELLER: I understand that you want to buy sir

ME: Yes, I am interested in a set of Ferrari 360 wheels. Do you have photos and prices? Thanks.

SELLER: How much do you want to spend sir?

ME: It depends on the condition of the wheels. Can you please send photos? Thanks.

SELLER: they are new [photo included]

ME: How much for the set? They are with tires? Where are you located?

SELLER: yes they are with tires. I`m from Uk sir

ME: In the UK? So how would payment be handled? Do you have a price? Would you be open to www.iescrow.com ?

SELLER: Wire Transfer. How about $1400

ME: The price is very reasonable, but I'm afraid that I cannot send a wire transfer without any type of guaranty that I will receive the wheels. The only solution is a service like www.escrow.com, that will hold the money until I receive the wheels, then releases the money to you. Please let know if this is acceptable.

Never heard from him again. Something strange there... has anybody else closed a deal with him? Does he actually expect me to wire $1.4K and just sit back and wait for my wheels?

Ernesto

Vincent -- With regard to if wheel spacers "put extra stress on the wheel bearing" it depends on how they're used:

If the spacer moves the tire centerline further away from the mid-point between the wheel bearings then the total radial load on the wheel bearings will increase and how the total radial load is shared between the two bearings will change, but for ~15mm or less at the front or ~25mm or less at the rear, I doubt that you'd have a seriuos problem or notice a significant wheel bearing life reduction (fronts tend to have a more delicate closely-spaced bearing arrangement; whereas, the rears are larger/more-rugged/further-spaced). If you changed it by 100mm, this probably would be unacceptable (and look horrible ).

If the spacer (or adapter) is used to mount a different set of wheels, but the tire centerline is put/held in the stock location, then the wheel bearing loads are the same as stock.

Are you thinking of increasing the track slightly on your '92 348?

"Could whell spacers put extra stress on the wheel bearing?"

Most definately! The bearings are positioned in the hubs very near the center of the wheels rotation. Spacers will add load the the bottom of the outside bearing and to the top of the inside bearing; and spacers add a bending couple to the axle itself.

In addition spacers on the front will add kickback from bumps to the steering wheel, and deaden the feel of the steering (a little). The original front end geometry has all of the forces* pointing directly at the center of the contact patch. Spacers disrupt this geometry.

Some people like the stiffer steering feel and think it imporves handling. I say: if it imporves the handling, then the car was not set up right to begin with.

Use spacers if you like, but don't think that there are no consequences in their use.

*Ball joint points directly at center of the contact patch of front wheel, Shock and spring point directly at the center of the contact patch of the front wheel.

Yeah, that guy with the 20 sets on ebay posts them every few days, and then he gets them cancelled by ebay. Each time with a new user id. Pretty funny, because if he just put one set for sale, somebody may bite. But so many, its obvious its a scam.

Just a reminder to people buying wheels off ebay - be very careful as I have seen countless occasions of a scamster selling cheap wheels

Do a search for "Ferrari Wheels" - Theres a guy with 20 sets of 360 wheels & tyres all at $999.00 each set (I'll have 2 sets please!)

Byron, that's why I want them as well, for track use. I would prefer challenge wheels, but they are very hard to find in good condition. Anyway, no big deal, whoever gets them first gets them. Its not really a must have for me right now...

Ernesto... I have dibs on those 360 wheels! I sent the guy an email and haven't heard back yet. (j/k... I just wanted another set of wheels so that I could put some track tires on one set)

by all means, if you get hold of the guy first... first come first serve, as far as I'm concerned.

yes you can!
Think of spacers at the same time. I do not think you need them but looks better. John has 355 wheels on his 348.

Paul Sloan also has 360 rims on his 308 and that works with spacers.

If you can get the set cheap buy it!
