The Maserati racer is a Maserati 8 CTF with S/N 3032 which has won the Indy 500 in 1939 and 1940! Very nice pics indeed. Thanks. |

Chris I now agree with you about the "GT40" It's a kit car. (Left hand drive) |

Here are a few more pics from Detroit. The Bizzarrini"s shape can't be fully appreciated except in person, so many beautiful curves. The 1937 Maserari racer was very interesting, technically advanced for it's day, notice the large cast x-frame/oil tank under the seat that is bolted to the frame rails. When the gentleman that brought the car from the museum at Indy opened the hood--- instant crowd several people deep. For you gearheads out there, check out these exposed hairpin valve springs on a Moto Guzzi.

That Bizzarrini is a very rare 5300 GT Spider from 1968. |

The model by the right front headlight was the hottest. The one by the driver's door handle had no panties on. Nice cars too. |

Greg Great photo's. Thanks for posting them. The birdcage Maser is very beautiful. As for the GT40 since Ford stomped Ferrari at LeMans Ferrari has never won there again. Until they do any GT40 is automatically awarded a trophy at an Italian Concorse ... |

Chris, I was mildly surprised by the number of Ford employees involved with the show when I flipped through the program. I loved that GT40--it's the first one I've ever seen in person--but there is no way that car should have won at an ITALIAN car show. Yes, there was a small-scale fashion show. Here is a pic of the models after the show. The image hasn't taken kindly to being reduced, but you'll get the idea. I just *happened* to be standing in the right spot at the right time. Greg A

Greg, It was closer to 3:30/4 when all of this happened. (Was there a fashion show?) You're not kidding about it being hot. I did the dumb mistake of wearing slacks instead of shorts and regretted it all afternoon. The Enzo was fired up when they were doing the awards. Funny enough, the GT40 won an award at an Italian car show. That made me snicker. Not knocking the GT40 - it's an amazing machine, but it just struck me as a little ironic. Wonder if it had anything to do with the location of the event..... |

Chris, When you said, "models", for a second I thought you were referring to the fashion show. Was this right at 9:00am? I am soooooo mad that I missed seeing the Enzo moving. I had entertained the thought of hanging around until the show had ended, but it was just too hot out there for me. At least I can at least mentally picture and hear the Enzo move down the driveway, thanks to your excellent description. Greg A |

Greg, You know, when the Enzo first started I was thinking "uh, ok this is not what I had imagined it would sound like...." It sounded extremely rough and that it was not quite running on all cylinders. After about a minute is smoothed out to a purr. Mr. Cable drove it up the little road in front of the crowd, punching it a little bit. They had him say a few words about the car, then he mashed the gas pedal letting out a howl from the engine. It revved up and down so fast that it "popped" once coming back down the RPM range. No kidding it was almost instantaneous - up then down. When he went to back it back with the F40/F50, he got on it just enough roast the tires for a split second. All of the cars there were beautiful. It was nice to see some models (especially Maseratis) that you wouldn't normally see. |

Chris, I am really disappointed right now. I wasn't there when the Enzo was fired up. I really, really wish I had witnessed that. Yeah, the Bizzarrini was a very interesting car, but I spent most of my time between the GT40 and the F40, 50 and Enzo. Greg A |

Hey Greg, yeah, hopefully next year we'll meet in person Although I'm sure you're right - most likely we did cross paths at some point. Wasn't that paint job on the Bizarinni absolutely awesome? That has to be the reddest red I've ever seen. It was nice to see cars you don't normally see. Did you see it when Dan Cable of Cauley Ferrari lit up the Enzo for a split second? I've never heard an engine rev up and down so fast in my life. |

Chris, it was nice meeting you today! That Bizarrini had the best paint job that I have ever seen! The 250 Spider Cal. was an absolute work of art. Nice day, nice people, great time. |

Hi, nice meeting you today Chris! Here is my favorite. I'd love to be caught driving in this ride with a pair of those old fashioned racing goggles over my eyes and a nice leather jacket with the wind whipping through my hair. That would just make my world.

Here is one of my pics from the show today. This is John M (jm2) & Jerry W (Tork 1966) with their cars. John and Jerry were both very friendly and it was a pleasure to meet them today. Chris, didn't manage to find you, but I'm sure we crossed paths at some point. Maybe next year. Greg A
