They don't melt, but they sure are a b**ch to clean up afterwards!

I use Rain-X as my wipers are as fast as Ferrari windows. You MUST follow directions or you will have a foggy window. Clean the windshield TWICE with a good glass cleaner and then apply Rain-X as the bottle says. The results will astound you if you did it right, and annoy the hell out of you if you didn't.

Good luck with that rain-x. I would try to find or get some advice on how to apply it because it is REALLY HARD to buff off.

Lee,

I didn't have to replace the starter, so unfortunately I don't have any advice. I am going to get RainX, Rich. Thanks for the advice.

From what I've read, and I think this happened to me last week (!), water on the engine can pool in the spark plug wells and cause one or more cylinders to misfire. After washing it, mine did this for two drives last weekend (when an Italian-car fan friend was driving, of course...how embarassing), so I was down 2 or 4 cylinders. Abruptly quit, thank God. If it doesn't happen again, I'm not going to sweat it.

Now my starter solenoid's gone completely. I have it disconnected, but can't seem to get it out the bottom. I can't remember if you had yours rebuilt, or had to fool with it at all. Any pointers?

Have you tried Rain-X on the windshield? When I first saw the stuff I thougt "no way this will work as advertised." But I'll be damned, the stuff works! At any speed over 40mph, I never turn on my wipers anymore since I just don't need them. At slow speeds where there isn't enough wind to wash the water off and where there are lots of overhead streetlights to create glare, you'll still need the wipers though.

I can count to five on each swipe of the wipers. My wife and I just got back after dinner. On the way home I got caught out in a B I G thunderstorm in my 308. Couldn't hardly see! We skipped the "cruising" part of the date. Car ran great though. I wondered about all that water pouring through the slats in the engine lid.
