noelrp. <<<<remember the warrenty... the micky mouse tuner can get 600 hp on the 360 but for how long.... To give full warrenty the factory can not even come close to the limits , as many tuner do. I had a Porsche tuned to 700hp, lasted maybe 1000 km.. had to put the stock engine back ,an the car was never reliable anymore.. I was pleased when the increasment in the CS was only a 6% since it ment no reliability problems. I prefer 25 + hp for 100 000 km than 100+hp for 4000 km.... Plus the interesting thing about the CS is the weight to power ratio. CS has now the same power to weight ratio of a normal 360 with 500 hp. <Getting slimmer is even better than getting more hp, because you not only get faster but more agil. Anyway gettin 121hp per liter out of an aspirated engine is something never seen...plus comes with 3 years warrenty... |

At the same token, the engine rework and all netted only 25HP from the factory. How can the chip tuners get ~10% HP by tweaking the engine management. Why arent the factory doing this? It just show you that MOST chips are bull (JC not included of course ). |

I'm not sure about that. It makes sense for Ferrari, and many other manufacturers, to deliver as little improvement at a time to leave some improvement opportunities without any technical risk for the next model or limited edition. ACW

Interesting to note that even with all of their resources Ferrari was only able to get a 6 per cent improvment from the 360C Stradale engine. It only goes to show that each evoloution of engine design is "tweeked" about as far as possible from the factory. With MAJOR changes they still only were able to milk 25 more horses and no extra torque. And after losing over 400 pounds with the extra ponies you only get a 2 tenths of a second gain in 0-60. Amazing..... |
