LOL, Byron ...and thanks!

You're right, Kelly, about the switches and levers on various marques. The stalk levers on my 944 seem like clubs compared to the Ferrari's (and I'm still trying to figure out the levers on the 308 after 2 years!). BTW, you have one gorgeous TR as well...it looks showroom new!

Uh-oh, Martin...from the responses here, it sounds as if I might have exaggerated a bit with the "gentleman" comment . Hey, that's OK...any body that can climb out of a TR window when it's parked in a cramped car hauler has my respect!

Eric, congratulations. I bought my car from Martin - an avid enthusiast and a true *ahem* gentleman indeed! :-) Enjoy your new ride.

Isn't it odd how different Italian cars are from German cars? Count how many different locations on the TR you have buttons, or knobs, or switches that control some function of the lights. There must be 4 or 5 different locations from the steering column to the overhead console to the center console. It took me a long time to figure it all out. But, it was a fun long time! Also compare how slim and sexy the Italian switches are to those of the short and stubby all in one German switches. I like both but just thought it was odd how differently the two types of cars accomplish the same functions. I guess it's all about style with Ferrari and function with Mercedes.

Thanks for the compliments -- Pininfarina did a wonderful job sculpting these cars -- I can't get over the lines, and how they all flow together to form a beautiful tight package...just like the 308.

Honestly, I hadn't even looked into the operation of the passenger side mirror until this AM. Martin is correct, it was added by a previous owner perhaps for visual balance in the appearance of the exterior. The only downside is that I'll need to have a custom car cover made with matching mirror pocket on passenger side.

Still getting familiar with all the buttons, switches, controls, etc. associated with the car. Had to read the owners manual to figure out how to open the glove box! It's pretty certain that I'll have a few questions along the way too.

Yes, Kelly...the chrome cavallino on the rear was a welcome site. IMHO, I prefer it over the OEM black one. There's one on the front grill as well.

Martin...we'll take you up on that offer hopefully in the near future. Would be exciting to spend at least a couple days there and take in the sites!

Kelly,
the passenger mirror is not electric. It is actually a useless addition to the car other than optics because you can not see the mirror in the drivers seat. I guess the reason they did not put it on in the first place and also the reason why they came down a year later!

Looks mean though, I agree!

Eric, that's one hot looking TR you got there. I like the passenger side mirror. Is it electric like the driver's side or is it manual? I like the updated chrome emblem on the rear too. Testarossa's are awsome machines. Enjoy!

Eric, congrats on having one of the most beautiful machines in the auto world. It must be a good feeling having a "worry-free" purchase
as Martin is well known in this board.

Eric,
it was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely wife. Sorry for the heat here in Miami. The last weeks have been brutal.

I hope you two will make it down here soon again so I can show you some of the real sites in Miami. The offer for a great hotel deal through my friend is always there.

Take the TR out on I95 one day, this is where the car really shines!

Thanks all for the kudos and kind words.

Bruce and Dave L -- it's good to hear from you both again. Yes, it's very unfortunate about John and Carlo retiring, but after 30 years they've earned it!

You're right, Robert -- it's definitely a dream come true. Thanks to the softer TR market right now, it was a good time to persue one. Martin was there, ready and willing to make it all happen!

Will have to take some pics this week and update the profile. In the meantime, here's one that Martin took:

Sorry about that...forgot to mention what F-car it was ...

Yes, Robert and ELI, it was the '85 TR. What beautiful cars the TR's are! I was amazed at how wide the rear is on it...and they are very well appointed too. Not to mention the glorious sound and power of those 12 cylinders! Everytime I step out in the garage, I have to pinch myself at the sight of the TR parked next to the 308 -- and the best part is that the wife and kids love it too! Unfortunately, the weather was horrible all weekend, so haven't had the opportunity to drive it much yet.

Mario -- Glad to hear about your enjoyable experience also...you picked a beautiful 355.

Good morning all fellow F-Chatters...

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Martin and his company Cavallino Motors for the wonderful experience I had in doing business with him last week!! As many of you who've had the pleasure of doing the same, you can attest to the fact that Martin is a first-class gentleman who is passionate about F-cars, and enjoys helping the F-car community bring their dreams to reality...and, believe me, that's an understatement! Inspite of my constant nagging communication while working out all the arrangements on my end, Martin always promptly replied to my every concern. In fact, on the trip down, he kept in touch via cellphone so we wouldn't get turned around. Even meeting him in person for the first time was a pleasure -- he made you feel like you'd known him all your life.

Last week was an exciting one for me....brimming with anticipation of another F-car purchase -- bringing back with it all the memories of the first F-car experience. After finally getting all my ducks in a row, the wife and I left early Thursday 4:00 AM and headed towards Miami. Even with a good 6 hour drive ahead of us, I was WIDE AWAKE -- my wife, on the other hand, was not...and quickly grew tired of my incessant F-car chatter . At last, there it was...Exit 16!! One last phone call to Martin, and we navigated toward Bay Harbor Islands -- taking in the beautiful scenery along the way. Odd thing is, having been born and raised in Florida for the most part, this was my first trip to Miami! It is very picturesque.

Martin met up with us and gave us a thorough presentation of the F-car, and even helped me load it up in the hauler. When it was all said and done, he and I were both drenched in sweat -- man it's hot down there! Next, we followed him up to Cavallino Headquarters and signed all the paperwork, while enjoying the cool air conditioning. After a thank you, handshake, and cordial farewell, we were on the road home with another Ferrari dream come true.

To anyone out there contemplating an F-car purchase -- especially those of you who live in or near Florida -- I would highly recommend getting in contact with Martin and Co. IMHO, he is first-class all the way, and represents his cars with honesty and integrity. He'll always be my first choice in any future purchases.

Thank you again Martin for all your help. You went out of your way to accomodate this deal. My wife and I enjoyed meeting and doing business with you. And we're looking forward to another visit to Miami again soon, when we can stay a little longer .
