Any situation in life can be related to that show. No wonder it was such a hit and one of my all-time favorites.

Man I thought Mikes first apology was very nice. But I guess a second one was needed. Ease up man it is just an email. Did anyone see the Seinfeld where the guy won't let George borrow his sweater because he says Georges' head is too big and he thinks he will stretch out the neck hole. Of course this makes George mad and he stews on it forever. Then years later the guy says he is sorry but George feels he needs another apology but the guy tells George to take a hike.

Christian,

Again, if I insulted you I regret that. It was not my intention certainly to degrade your Mondial in any way. I am sure it is a beautiful Ferrari (as are they all).

You are correct in that the difference between the TR and the carb 308 is great and I guess I will have to wait until the right year AND model of Ferrari comes my way and all I am saying is that I know the Mondial is not it.

Also, I did not mean to imply that no one else is busy or has anything else going on in their life except for myself, I simply was trying to let you know the immediate circumstances surrounding my own life right now (without going into every detail) and that it is/was quite hectic (I didn't do a good job of getting this across which is obvious from your reaction). Otherwise, I certainly would have responded promptly, as I mentioned before.

I hope we can patch this up as I think it is a simple misunderstanding of which I do admit the majority of the blame. I hope you can however see somewhat the reason for it based on what I have said.

Also, please don't hesitate to contact me (with or without a Ferrari to offer) by e-mail in the future and I promise to do my utmost to answer you (and everyone else) as promptly as I am able.

C'mon Christian, the guy apologized to you what more do you want? As far as you offering him your work of art he told you he doesn't want it.

Michael:
Sorry, but there is quite a difference between a Testarossa and a carbureted 308.

And, we all are busy, I have two small children, visitors from Europe with small children right now, two businesses running at the same time and still time for my hobbies :).

I kind of feel insulted by your answer and regret offering you this great piece of art.

Christian,

I apologize for not replying to your e-mail as promptly as I should have.

However, I think I have made it somewhat clear as to what model(s) I am interested in over the past while with my posts, etc. I have never mentioned a Mondial and am not interested in one.

Also, the last few days have been quite hectic with this potential purchase running back and forth to the dealer and the Ministry of Transportation, etc.. I also have responsibilities in a family owned accounting firm and have "wasted" many hours lately that should have been devoted to this business.

I usually am prompt at returning e-mails and again apoligize for not getting back to you before this, however I hope the above helps you understand why I haven't yet a bit better.

Regards,
Mikester

Bret, I agree totally with you. When you get in your Ferrari you want it to connect you with the road and give you the "Ferrari Touch" feeling and you know you are not driving a Chev. or a Cadillac.

Michael:

It is good that you like the forum but it would be nice too if you would reply to members emails. I asked you if you would be interested in my Mondial as I have two Ferrari and have to sell one. The Mondial is technically 100 % and sure does not drive like an old car.

I think that it is not OK just using peoples knowledge and then not even bother replying to an email.

I think that old feeling is more of a pure connection feeling than anything else (I can see what you say about play in possibly loose connections that have worn, but those can be brought back to their original luster). Cars nowadays are so user friendly, it's starting to defeat the purpose of having a car to connect with. Is there any sports car made without a hydraulic clutch or power steering anymore, ABS, traction control, etc? I know this is just the movement of technology and I'm not gonna say it's a bad thing (it saves a lot of lives for one thing and allows more people to drive close to the limit) but it's the reason why there will always be a market for a 1950s Italian or British car.

I guess by "old" i mean the play in the steering and the heaviness of the clutch, etc., and just a general "feeling".

I know the steering and clutch feel can be improved, but I don't know if that would do it for me.

Mike,
Having gone through the same process a year or so ago, I ended up locking in on a 328GTS. It is a 10 year newer car, with lower miles usually and there are some additional refinements. I have two friends with 308s and they are nice cars, no question, but I was after more interior space and also a little different interior finish. The 328 did it for me. I have not regretted the purchase.

Michael, When you say "old" were you referring to the steering and how it handled?

HI ALL,

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE GREAT INPUT.

YESTERDAY, THE MECHANINC CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND SAID IT WAS PRETTY GOOD. WOULD HAVE TAKEN ABOUT 5-10 THOUSAND CDN MAX. (ABOUT 3.5-6.75 THOUSAND USD) TO BRING THE CAR TO TOP NOTCH "PERFECT" CONDITION.

THAT WAS THE GOOD NEWS.

THE BAD NEWS WAS THAT AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN I ACTUALLY DROVE IT, IT FELT TOO OLD. DON'T GET ME WRONG, THE CAR WAS VERY NICE INSIDE AND OUT AND SOUNDED VERY GOOD AND FELT QUITE TIGHT AND EVERYTHING FOR ITS AGE, BUT JUST DROVE LIKE AN OLD CAR (SORRY).

ALSO, THE DEALER WAS ONLY NEGOTIABLE BY ABOUT 1 THOUSAND ON THE PRICE (SO WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN ABOUT $44 K CDN FIRM (ABOUT $29K USD)) AND GIVEN THE 5-10 CDN I WOULD NEED/WANT TO PUT INTO IT (FIVE MINIMUM CDN TO CORRECT ALL "URGENT" PROBLEMS), THIS WAS NOT GREAT. IN ADDITION, I'M NOT SURE I WANT ONE SO OLD WITH CONSTANT MECHANICAL PROBLEMS AND IN THE SHOP ALOT AND COST THIS WOULD (COULD?) INVOLVE.

FINALLY, THE WHOLE SITUATION WAS A BIT WEIRD IN TERMS OF THE CURRENT OWNER AND HIS BEING OUT OF THE COUNTRY TILL "NEXT WEEK" AND THAT THE DEALER WOULD HAVE TO CONFIRM WITH HIM, ETC.....

SO, I DECIDED AGAINST THIS PARTICULAR FERRARI AND THE SEARCH CONTINUES!!!

AGAIN, THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT.

REGARDS,
MIKESTER
