That is just stunningly gorgeous. Congratulations, Michael; you're the proud owner of one of the most beautiful 4-wheeled vehicles ever conceived, designed, and built!! God, I love the 360!

After a few years of roughing it with my 308, I'll be SO ready for one of these.

Thanks, Bill

Great car, enjoy it!

Seeing that picture of the shifter shining in the sun, does the shifter get too hot to touch if it's left in the sun for too long?

Thanks, all, for the kind words.

Yes, the pictures were taken at Ferrari of San Francisco, which is where I purchased the car. My experience dealing with the guys at Ferrari of SF was awesome. I am really glad that I bought from an authorized Ferrari dealer as well because I was able to get my name on the waiting list for the Spider.

In regards to the manual tranny vs. the F1... I drove both and I just really liked the manual tranny. I felt more involved and I felt it would make me a better driver to learn how to "handle" it properly. I just felt dumbed down with the F1 and I found it to be clunky in traffic, I just couldn't get it to shift smoothly. I have no doubt that after a few days of driving with the F1 it would become second nature and I could get it to do all things well, but I figure my first Ferrari should be a manual tranny. Then again, I always told myself my first Ferrari had to be red, so there goes that "I told myself" stuff.

The other thing that worried me about the F1 was any maintenance issues. I have read alll of the horror stories here on FerrariChat, one guy went into reverse and it got stuck there. When I was driving the F1, when coming to stop during which time the car is quiet, you can here all of the solenoids operating and it just sounded like a whole lot could go wrong when it decides to misbehave.

I was very very close to buying a car in Arizona that had an F1, in fact. I found myself at odd times of the day worrying about getting an F1 over a manual. I worried about missing out on much of the Ferrari expierence of heel-toeing, blipping the throttle in a downshift, "snick snick" of the manual shifts, and all of the other stuff which lets you be part of the Ferrari. Then, when I realized I was getting the manual transmission I thought about how cool the F1 is and maybe i should think more about it. Bottom line is that I wanted both, but ultimately the manual is best for me to experience my first Ferrari with. Maybe the next one will be F1.... maybe not!

I already have a few minor issues with the car, but those will all be dealt with under warranty. I used to own a Ducati motorcycle and things just would fall off it from time to time, including my kickstand on several occasions. So, I am fully aware that dealing wtih small issues are part and parcel with an Italian exotic. There is always a price to pay for what is one of the most beautiful machines on the road, and I am more than willing to deal with it.

In driving it today in downtown Los Gatos (for those of you who know where Los Gatos is), I did notice some fringe benefits. In my 996 Turbo I would get some glances from people and from some nice looking women. But, in the Ferrari I get long stares from the super hot women!!!! Too bad they are most likely just looking at just the car, but, hmmm, I need to figure out how to exploit this!!! =)

Eli,

I've heard that from various folks, but I think that it's one of those musts for a first time Ferrari owner. That click clack can get addictive!

Cheers

Congratulations on successfully resisting the F1 juggernaut - I'm sure you're having far more fun with the gated shifter!

I think this is one of the most beautiful 360 color combinations, especially on the coupe.

As your first Ferrari, I think you'll be glad you got the 6-speed rather than the paddle shift.

Beautiful car!

I have finally realized my dream of getting a Ferari.

I spent the last month searching all over the internet for my dream car. FerrariChat has been invaluable to learn about other's experiences, potential problems to look for, etc... I am really glad to have had this resource and hope to now be able to help the next guy out with my experiences.

The car I ended up with is a 2002 360 Modena, Grigio Alloy exterior with dark blue interior. I specifically wanted a 6-speed manual, which proved to be quite difficult to find! The car has Scuderia shields, full leather, front and rear challenge grills, and the modular wheels. I have included some pictures below.
