If you order the sunroof, you can't get the upgraded radio, etc. If you do, the sunroof doesn't fit behind the seats. I think a tubi works the best for a sound system. Art |

Guys: I'm no expert but after years of spending big bucks on audio systems ($14,000 on my 996tt) I learned a few things. First off the older Sony head units used to work with the Becker changers, they were about the only aftermarket units that I found that would. I happened to be at my dealer when they goy in their first 360 with Nav and Hifi options, once we got the system to English (came in set to German) fairly easy to work. Looking at the HK unit it appears to be the exact same unit, though I can not say 100% that it will work with the becker changer, HK should be able to confirm. Had me wondering though, without the hifi option, and with a tubi on if you would even be able to hear the directions, coupe would be easier than a syder. I have built in nav units in my M5, S500, and Lexus LX470, and have owned both Alpine, and Pioneer aftermarket units. They all work pretty well, just a matter of ease of operation. As for the stereo, I'm a Dead Head going way back, and though most of the time I'm listening to the GHL and the air induction kit, there are times I need to hear the tunes and I like it loud. When I switch my coupe to my spider next year, I'm leaving the head unit and changer, but the amps and the sub box are coming with me.

I agree with you Nick i don't want to upgrade just wanted to see if i can get navigation in my car with-out all the flip up screens and things. I want it to look as original as possible. |

Take it from someone who has done extensive upgrades to the audio system in a 360. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!! A total waste of time. Ferrari should be enjoyed listening to the engine and exhaust. Everything else is a distraction. |

the problem with using that upgrade as your standard aural stimulation is that every once in a while as you nail it you get nailed and have to end up instead listening intently to "you gonna be my beeyatch, boy" in county lockup :-) :-) i actually want the nav system in the TrafficPro. i assume the audio quality is identical to the stock Becker unit. doody. |

the best audio upgrade is turning off the audio, roll down both windows, and nail it. |

Doody, i read up on it as well, it seems to be a self-inclusive unit and you can put the GPS antenna anywhere it seems. The deciding factor would if this unit is fully compatible with the CD-Changer in the trunk. So far it seems all you would have to do is pull out the old Becker unit and plug this one in its place with a placement of GPS sensor somewhere in the car. If it is truly that easy i would be very inclined to purschase it. Still waiting Morrie to give us more detail on the compatibility. Rehan |

Doody, You lose the cassette, the NAV cd's go into the CD unit when the face flips down. From what i understand it can load all the info in from the NAV CD, then you can use that same CD unit to play regular CD's. You can also connect your 6-CD changer to the unit. -- Michael |

rehan - based on what's listed on the crutchfield site, it looks like the only thing you might have to futz with is the GPS antenna. morrie - please enlighten us. i would be interested in putting this into my 550 (i came THIS close to putting one of these in my 996TT), and if its' a straightforward job, all the better argument. does the cd changer in the boot still connect in and work just fine? i assume you put the nav cd into the head unit itself? so you lose the cassette (big deal)? or is there a separate unit that houses the nav cd somewhere in the boot (like most systems)? doody. |

I recommend the factory "hi fi", its kind of a lame name but it sounds great and you don't have to cut the car up. My guess is that you could order the parts from the dealer and be money ahead. It consists of double sub woofer and an amp mounted under the dash with leather trim, the sound is very very good. Its about a $1900 option at time of order. I know of several people, myself included, that will knock money off for a big aftermarket stereo, very few people install them without cutting holes, etc. Just an opinion, I am sure some people do a nice job. |

The Becker NAV unit works well, just like the Porsche unit, you can buy the unit at crutchfield under the Harman Karden nameplate, much cheaper that way. I upgraded the stereo in my 360, changed head unit speakers added power, did not reall do much, so I had them put 3 subs behind the seats. That made the difference. Unless you really think you are going to get lost alot, I would not advise the nav unit. |

Has anybody here done any audio system upgrades to their 360? I am contemplating doing a few things... I recently had a Reus system put in my 996 Turbo, the system is phenomenal. They actually put 2 tweeters in my rear view mirror!! I noted from the Reus website that they also specialize in 360's. Has anybody here had a Reus system put in their 360? I am also thinking of putting a NAV system in, as all my other cars have them and I find them to be a godsend. Ferrari uses a Becker head unit and Becker makes an upgraded model that has NAV built into it and it looks stock/factory. In fact, looking at Ferrari literature it looks as if Ferrari actually offers this upgraded Becker NAV unit as an option. Does anybody have any experience with this NAV unit? -- Michael |
