I'd love to do some sort of 'non cubic dollars' racing. When I get this new business venture going smoothly, it is something that I might explore.

Silver is awesome.

Minimum for a TA season is about $1 mil. from what they've told me. Just do SRF like Jon or Spec Miata\Rx7 like me. $8,000 a year at most.

Rob....awesome Trans Am site pal.

I spoke with Paul Gentilozzi, and Lou Gigilotti(sp?) a couple of years ago, which is what helped create my desire for the Trans Am car idea.

I'm really much more of a driver than an internet league player. I'm sure I would probably suck....be at the back of the pack...if I tried it. Anyway, I don't know too much about the drivers, other than I had some fun time at some track events with Boris Siad (sp?).

Time I have, talent...questionable...money?? Does FerrariChat want to sponsor me for a full Trans Am season?? How about it guys?? Minimum sponsorship $100,000....$500,000 gets you the main sections of the sides and hood!! I'm waiting by the phone for the calls to pour in!!

Jon....when Bubba found out I had sold the 355 Challenge and am going to go the Trans Am route, he pouted like a little girl.

The other half of Squidracing is taking a wait and see attitude on how it goes for me...then (pending approval from his wife) he may join me on the dark side.

If anyone is interested in some killer images of the car I'm interested in:

www.rocketsportsracing.com

click on Trans Am

surf/surf/surf

I'd love to hear some feedback on color preference. I'm very partial to the silver...what do you guys think?

OK, everyone close your eyes except Matt.

Matt, do you know about www.tainternetleague.com ?

That site is about 60% hard core TA fans like myself, but 40% are the TA officials and actual drivers. I've talked to Paul Gentilozzi, Johnny Miller, Lou Gigilotti(sp?) and etc.

I think I've already sent you this link before though. Great idea Matt, I just find it hard to believe with all the time and money and your talent you don't want to race.

Right Jon?

Guys, the xjr has only 450 horsepower and weighs about the same as Matt's car. No contest!

Matt, you're welcome to take my car out for a spin.

See in a couple of weeks!

Jon

Yup, the XJR-15 is a beauty, but it's really a different breed of car, and not one for someone who is not a trust fund kid.

Jon...I'll be at the Glen, but only to head up the instructing. The Trans Am won't be ready til next season. As far as the truckers...I'll use the less powerful motor when I play with them, otherwise it won't be fun being out there all by myself.

F my teamate Chris (just kidding..he's my bud)

An Indy car will be one of the few machines that will beat me!!

Kenny....no passenger seat, but you can hold onto the rollcage!!

Rob...you hit the nail on the head. The current chassis is has existed since 1996. My objective is to get a top quality roller and components, body shell, etc....and assemble it myself. I'm going to try to bring it in for a fraction of the cost of a current year car. No reason to waste the cash if I can do it myself. There is a LOT of bang for the buck to be had out there.

DES....the beauty of Squidracing is that it doesn't mean anything!! That's why we like it so much....life is meant to be enjoyed and have fun. Squidracing is all about that...having fun, enjoying, and keeping things light!!

Hubert.....YOU GOT IT RIGHT PAL....Holy $hit!!!!

LOL, Jim...!

Matt, this is really cool... Can i ask what "squid" racing is...? i wasn't aware that you were this high/good/much into racing...

Um, looking at the picture that Andre posted, is it too late to return the Trans Am and get the XJR-15...? It's gorgeous... i mean really gorgeous...

Matt, that is awesome, I'm a big TA fan and this is one of the coolest cars out there right now. Just a warning though that GT1 cars don't hold their value. Get the car for having fun with and the idea you don't want to sell it. Otherwise you'll be disappointed in 3-5 years when these are selling for $30-45k.

You are going to be pretty lonely out there by yourself! Maybe you could run the thing on 4 cylinders to give the rest of us a glimpse of the car while it's on the track.

I'm with Faisal on the XJR-15, except I'd have it parked in my living room and I would stare at it all day.

Matt,

Will it be at the Glen in time for Labor Day? Great going pal!

For those of you wondering Matt's new ride will weight about 400-500 pounds less than his 355 C and have an extra 200 hp.

You do the math!

Just curious how did you break the news to your teamate Chris?? I remember when you said he didn't tell you he was buying a 355 C and selling his 348 C.

Matt, don't tell the truck guys, just pull up beside them on the back straight and wave to em as you peel their paint off!

See you at the end of the month.

Faisal, I wanted to get away from the 'production car' racecar. I like the concept of being able to work on my own machine, as well as being able to remove body panels at will. Of course, looking at worse case scenario, if I do have an accident on the track, the Trans Am car is exponentially less expensive to repair....not to mention motor rebuilds, etc.

Hey DES....yeah, this is a serious step up. It's a bit like comparing apples to oranges in that this is a purpose built racecar, not a racecar based on a production model. It would be more similar to the ProDrive 550 than a 355 Challenge Car.

Des
This thing will suck the paint off the 355's front bumper as it disapears over the horizon.

In terms of what you're looking for - speed, performance, etc. - is this car the next level up...? Can it be compared to a 355C in that it can be a better car if the driver is skilled or is it like comparing oranges to apples...?

But Jim....although history dictates your choice of color....her curves are so sexy in silver....

Chris...I'll have to put a serious motor in there to swap laps with you. Actually, I'm thinking of having 2 motors. One for events that I will play with my friends with, and one to go REALLY fast on my own.

Yup.....it's true!! I am actually a non-Ferrari owner for the first time in over a decade.

Last week, I sold the screaming Italian machine to a very capable BMW driver. Don't worry guys....she has seen the light, and has the skills to put a hurting on a lot of other drivers.

I've matched the track record at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen in the 355 Challenge, so it's time for me to seek another machine whose soul I can extract.

So....Jaguar Trans Am car HERE I COME!!
