Martin,

You mentioned this common problem with the melting of the vents. I have the same problem with my 355. Do you know where I can buy the replacement parts for the vents? Or is there something I can do without replacing the parts? Thanks.

Thanks guys.

I use these terms too losely I guess. In the current condition it is not the car I would usually sell. Since I can get another 355 Spider I rather have in stock I like to get rid of this one ASAP to make room (financially) for the other one. Although I have made a deal with the other dealer that is pretty good in order to get the other car and not pay for 10 days.

Nicely put Thomas. Although, the girlfriend comparo made me twitch. If she is cheating, she wouldn't have time to tell me "to be honest with you". The moment cheat came out, conversation would end. : )

Phrases like "to be honest", "honestly, I ...", "frankly...", etc are part of common language and used without forethought. I know many books on sales suggest not to use them, but sometimes, as Freud once said, "a cigar is just a cigar".

In the pics it looks really clean.

I beleive Martin was be 100% upfront and forthwright, really the smartest way to do business.

Byron and Mario; my sentiments exactly. He is obviously upfront with satisfied customers to prove it.
Mario makes a very good distinction: "I'm certain Martin uses these words to qualify the car, not to qualify himself."
The observation made by JohnR, which was echoed by myself, is that "To be honest" is a red flag to many potential buyers who can't separate the salesperson from the item being sold, at the cost of potential sales.

Were you to ask your girlfriend if she was seeing anyone else, and she said, "To be honest, no" you wouldn't believe her.

Lapeter, Martin has already indicated exactly how much profit he stands to gain from the sale of this vehicle - $1,000. Honesty is the best policy, as Martin has proven time and time again.

It's unanimous - No one is questioning his integrity - Martin has the testimonials and endorsements to back up what he's offering here - the suggestion posed was to help Martin in the future - let's get out of his way.

Thomas, JohnR, Al... I can personally vouch for Martin. I bought my car from him and he was perfectly "up front" and "honest" about representing it in its true form. I have extremely happy with my car and would purchase from him again. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying this.

Thomas and John,

I'm certain Martin uses these words to qualify the car, not to qualify himself.

Fact is, if the car was a 10, Martin would not be using the descriptive words. He would say, this car is nice, and you should buy it because...

Because the car is not a reflection of what Martin typically sells, I believe he is separating himself.

Martin,
Having bought a 1996 spider in March IMHO that price seems high given all the facts. I assume no timing belt service done. Good luck.

Ha! Nice punchline!

What JohnR says is true, though - I also consider those words to be red flags, as do authors of Sales Books.

Fact of the matter is, you are being honest. I can recognize the need for you to state the term in some fashion, so, were it me, I'd say "Honesty is the best policy." If you weren't, especially here, some disgruntled so-and-so would be all over your case. Keep up the good work.

Martin,
"To be very honest", and "Let me be upfront here" are troubling to me.

Shouldn't one be "Honest" and "Up Front" without having to say it?

Let me be very upfront here. This car is not for the type of Ferrari Owners that buy thier cars at the local Ferrari dealer and pay $ 105,000 for the same car showroom clean.
This car is for those that do not mind a little work to bring a neglected car back to shine, hence the almost $30,000 price difference!

Bruce,
P Thomas,

to be very honest I can not tell. It looks as if the car was painted entirely since it is so hard to tell or it was just painted in the front and they took panels off to have them perfectly done.
Paint wise this car loos good. You just know it is there since carfax shows the accident.

The interior has the famous vent covers that are melting. The right and left are going strong. I just took the window controls out and cleaned them off. Center console and AC control modul look good. Ashtray is a goner. I actually have a spare if it is for a fellow F-chatter.

Looks like it has an aftermarket muffler. I personally do not like the sound very much. Does not appear to be TUBI sound.

Top has been recovered. Has a little tear poin in the rear where the hood rubs when you have the top closed.

This car needs some love.

now guys this car is not perfect. There is several imperfections with this car and you know me I represent the facts.
This car is supposed to have had the 15K done but no records...you be the judge :-)
Some plastic parts melting but surprisingly not all. Center console is good. Ashtray is broken. Wheels are very good except rear passenger with a minor scrape. Some other small stuff. Car hit a fence at one point and was redone.
This is a cheap 1997 F355 Spider yellow/black
I let this one go without fixing it since I am just getting another F355 Spider in in blue over sand also 1997.
