I'd like to say I have always been a Tifosi but the truth is, now that I reflect, when Road and Track put a 512BBI on their cover back in early1980something, it all started. I had an Aston Martin DB5 at the time and I was starting to go to road races. I saw more and more real examples and I became hooked. My first was 883GT - a 250GT Ellena which was followed by three 308s. One thing is for sure, the passion burns stronger now than ever.

My turning moment was when my former boss took the covers off of his 308GTS and said "Rob i need you to perform a engine overhaul on her!!!" After getting over the nerviousness of working on a Ferrari, I realised the passion that went into the building of the car. Once i got it running again and took it out on a test drive i was hooked.

Thinking back, I'm having a hard time remembering any specific moment too. It's almost as if "Ferrari" was always there. I do know that my dad would take me to the Auto Show every winter, and in the late 70s when the 308 showed up I was in awe.

I don't ever remember there being some event that brought me to Ferrari. I think I was genetically programmed to love the car, or maybe it was Magnum PI? I think that love comes from my dad lusting after Daytonas and Dinos and I was raised to lust after them as well.

When I was a twelve-year-old (twenty years ago) I had a copy of a Ferrari specific Road & Track. I think I read it daily for two or three years. I can still recall tire prices in some of the ads!

Interesting you bring this up. Last night we ate dinner with my parents, and were seated upstairs in a restaurant that overlooked the entrance of an upscale hotel. A red 360 Spider was parked in front, and all night long boys/guys/men would stop in their tracks and gape at it, many even taking pictures. Women barely paid it any notice. What we found interesting was how excited even the youngest boys would get. Obviously there's something in the design of a Ferrari that taps into our inner-most fantasy or desires. Like some sort of primal attraction.

Thought it be interesting to post how we became Ferrari enthusiasts.
