There was a reason why I never mentioned this person's name when relaying my experience. Maybe if I had left out the "fellow F-chatter" part he would have refrained from indicating himself? The fact is that, because it was a fellow F-chatter and someone that I had trusted, I felt a little more deeply betrayed than if it had just been some guy trying to sell me a car he didn't own like all of the other nuts on eBay.

The "side" he posted here is obviously complete BS, but I'm not going to get into an argument with him here ... or anywhere else for that matter. There's really nothing to discuss. There was never a car to be sold and so this is a dead issue. End of story.

My apologies for allowing this thread to go completely sideways. I will send it to the TOFAS file as soon as I can, unless Rob is able to do it now.

My side

Wayne placed all sorts of demands on the car. Wanting me to keep it secret and to not talk about it until his book came out. His demands grew to the point of pissing me off. Wanting to meet during the week when I have very tight timelines and schedules. Once I got fed up with him I told him to f-off. I did not hear from him for a week. Then out of the blue he said he would buy it and then he wanted more pictures. I took this a ruse to get the pictures and not buy the car. So I asked questions about the loan with no response and then I told him to f-off again. He e-mailed and called on a Friday and I did not get back to him until Monday and he became a total ass. He then when a little nuts on the phone and e-mail. I said f-off and then a few days later he shows up of f-chat with some posts trying to get more pictures by having my dragged over the coals knowing the f-chatters are going to want to see pictures. Rob even got into it last night. I explained the situation and he said he would back off.

I think Wayne has been spending way to much time in the sun.

Mark,

That picture was taken in Jan 03. It pre-dates all of this.

Ok, Dave.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of 250 PF coupe 0853GT? I've heard rumor of it being in both Southern California and in Lyons, France. Can anybody here confirm either?

Dave, I'm not trying to start anything with this person here regarding this car. That's why no names were mentioned. I feel I've been duped and am I'm looking for helpful information from those who might know more about 0853 GT and its whereabouts.

Your recollection of the facts are a bit lacking.

You fail to mention your childish tackets and moroned attitude that lead me to get annoyed with your double talk of " I need to get financing" to " I have no problem of getting the money" to "I did some serious scrounging (and more begging) to get the money together but, as part of it was a loan,"

The only thing lacking was you

You are nothing.

This car was reportedly found and purchased by a local Southern California man and fellow F-chatter, who contacted me the day he claims to have located the car. Not knowing where this car has been since it went to Prince Bertil in 1958, I was obviously excited. The car, I was told, had been with this same owner in the US since 1964!

Over the next few months, I dug around to gather as much information on the car as possible, to include BEGGING another F-chatter to send me copies of the factory build sheets, all the while scheduling numerous appointments to see/inspect/photograph the car. Every single appointment resulted in either a no-show or a last minute cancelation, however. At first I was promised that photos via email would be forthcoming but, of course, they never showed. I was told that the file was too large and that the email attempt had been bounced. Fair enough, why not resize the pics, compress the file, or simply send a single photograph? Alas, there were always excuses.

Just when putting in so much effort and setting aside so much of my time was starting to wear thin, I was told that the car was for sale and that I had first dibs. I did some serious scrounging (and more begging) to get the money together but, as part of it was a loan, the loan company needed to take some photos of the car. Simple enough, right? Wrong.

I sent an email requesting to set up a time for the loan company to take a few shots of the car. No response. Okay, another email and a phone message. Still no response. Several more phone messages and almost a week later, I received an abrupt email saying that this individual had no time for Ferrari related activity and he would be in contact with me later. At this point, I wasn't feeling too good about this entire transaction of buying a car I had never seen even a single photo of. I wrote him back telling him not to bother. I was no longer interested.

The following day, I received a phone call from a well-known F-car broker and friend of mine who wanted to know if this individual still had the car and if he would be willing to sell it as he had located a buyer. I told him I believed the car was for sale and that I would contact the owner. I made the call only to be told that the car had just sold for an exorbitant amount of money so I relayed that information to my broker friend.

The following day, I get a call from my broker friend. The car has actually been recently spotted by a French dealer in Lyons as part of the Pozzi collection, where it has been since 1967.

My question to all of you vintage F-car buffs is this: Has anyone seen this car either here in SoCal or in Lyons, France? Does anyone have a photo of this car other than the original black and white PF photos that appear in all of the books?
