Lee, I may have asked you in the past, but do you know where I can get 550-style wheels like are on your car? I really like them but haven't seen them in chrome, though I've seen painted 16" versions from SL in Atlanta (special MiniMiglia MM2's). I'd like to find some 17" wheels like those for my 308QV as a second set.

Mike, Lee P, and Andy, Thanks guys. Being on the calender sounds great. I just want to get to meet the other owners and get to see some awesome cars! |

Cool, Mike; we will definitely do that. Oh, and I can't take credit...the Lee who is organizing it is Lee Hamner, a new owner of a SWEET black '79 308 GTS. |

Andy, Many congrats! Wonderful! As for myself, have had too many, or should that be not enough, nights like that. Here in NH the spiring/summer/fall offers many nights of sheer driving bliss on nearly erotic twisting and turning mountain roads. This is precisely why the 308GTS QV has uprated lights (mains and fogs plus all new ones all around). Plan on adding 15 minutes or so to wipe off the dead bug stuff after the drive. PS: Added benefit to driving on quiet nights here... the echo of the engine from the mountains :-) My neighbors love to hate to love me at 2am :-) PPS: the cooler nights means more HP due to air temp :-) Enjoy the Drive, Steven R. Mike, My Mondial wasn't in Memphis, but I went as a spectator. I knew Tom Francis from college and wanted to see the event - mainly with the idea of doing one up here. I did meet you briefly, recognized your name from your nametag and we chatted for about two minutes. Andy |

Andy, let me know how the Ferrari Club might help if you go forward with that. I'm doing our Talladega Track event in November as a charity event for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. www.TradeTutor.com/tgpr/ www.fca-se.com Were you in Memphis for that event? I don't remember your Mondial there, but there were a lot of cars that I didn't necessarily get to meet the owners.

I'd actually like to see us do an event in Knoxville like the Memphis Italian Car Club did on Father's Day. A Ferrari/Lambo/Maserati show for charity. Charged spectators $5 and had silent auctions, etc... Was a great show really. I know the Knoxville director for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer foundation and she said they'd be glad to work with us and publicize it, etc... Could be fun. |

Lee: That's GREAT!! If you start to get more folks active in the Knoxville, area, we can start posting your local events in the FCA News and on our club websites. I'll ask Jake Murdock to get with you on this, and meanwhile I've posted your event on the calendar at www.fca-se.com Mike |

Andy: Please check out this link! This is to my knowledge a first for the Knoxville area (though we've been grumbling about it for a while), with more to come! Look forward to meeting you there...you're driving one of my "wanted cars"! Color and all; it looks perfect! Can't wait to hear it. http://www.tennlee.com/invite.html |

When life seems totally perfect? I mean NOTHING could be better. Had friends over for dinner and then went out for a "red-car ride" with just the family. Wife riding shotgun and kids in their carseats in the back, almost dozing off (Mondial cab - 4 seats). 10:00PM in Knoxville, TN. 70 degrees and about 95% humidity. Drove out Northshore (which is a semi-windy road that runs along the Tennessee River) and back. Only took 20 minutes, round trip... Air was cool and sticky along the lake. You couldn't see the stars for the dew which hasn't settled yet. Oh, and for the trees that cover the road a lot of the way. The entire price of the car was worth this evening's drive. It was one of those magical drives when you make every upshift smoothly with the right match of rpm's and throttle. Double-clutching every downshift just for the sounds. I love that crack of the throttle... Damn this car sounds good cruising in 4th at 4000-4500 rpm's! I do enjoy the "ripping silk" sound of the occasional blast to the redline in 2nd, followed by a smooth upshift and run to about 5500 in 3rd. But the sounds of on and off the throttle in the mid-range sounds better to me than anything I've ever heard. Ferraris are incredible. My car is probably slower than half of the econoboxes on the road, but I can't imagine anything more rewarding. Wife and daughters think so too, which is what really matters! A superb end to a week of vacation. Here comes reality... -Andy (my apologies to those who read this earlier when I goofed and posted on the "technical" forum....) |
