There was a saying, in the old days, that the only way to guard your Porsche in Italy was to sleep in it -- with a loaded shotgun.

If that is the case with a Porsche, what would be required for guarding a Ferrari in Italy?

Have mine tightened up with a socket.use a spanner to hold the bottom nut and tighten the the valve cap, after that thereis no way they are coming of,just remember to carry the appropriate tools with you to loosen them if necessary!!

I have the same except for the Lotus logo. I had 2 stolen at my mechanics; the other two were too tight so I really have all 4 tightened down hard now. Being a Lotus, I have plenty of on board tools should I need to remove them!

I don't want to jinx myself, but, I have the same caps on my "other" car and never had a problem. I do make sure to remove them if I bring the car in for any kind of service.

Hmmm..sounds like Nika has a Griots story. I remember her article about their leather car fragrance, she convinced me to buy some!

Nika mine were swipped right out of my grandfathers driveway! Found the kids who did it riding around on their bikes with the caps on! Told their parents and they got some good "Licks!"

Mark....wow - that's amazing! I do one day want to see my sticker on a car driving down the road....lord knows I've mailed out enough FREE stickers!!

I actually have more Ferrari ones - I think these are the ones that you can't easily twist off. Steve - thanks for the info - but it will be a COLD say in hell before I order anything from Griots again.

Thanks again to everyone

Nika--those valve stem covers disappear like nothing else. I had an entire set disappear off of my car while parked in a large , observable parking lot at a swanky restaurant. 2 more were stolen off of my car at another restaurant. Interestingly, my friend's TR , which was parked next to me, also lost 2. In this second instance the thief was kind enough to leave us a set between us!

Nika, email is on its way. My daughter likes your "Because Girls Can Drive Fast Too" cartoon/saying. I was probably going to buy her one of your tshirts anyway.

Nika, I have an extra set that can't be taken off without a special tool that fits on your keychain. If you'd like to trade for one or two RacerChick t-shirts for my daughter, let me know.

TC, taking the valve caps is rather a petty "crime of opportunity", I don't think anyone is going to put anymore effort into taking them than twisting them off with their pinkies...if it is on too tight...they move on...

Between my previous 308 and my current 328, I have been using the same little Ferrari valve caps for about four years, but I used the little wrench/key fob they came with to tighten them.

I feel for you Nika...Stewart had the front nose emblem and fender shields taken off his yellow 308 recently...buggers uses a screwdriver on the nose and scratched it up.

I don't know, I think I'd just rather them take the caps than spend a lot of effort wrangling with the stem. A stolen cap is better than a damaged valve stem or scratched rim, right?

I bought a small cheap crescent wrench that I keep in the door pocket in the Ferrari. My valve caps are on so tight that it requires the wrench to remove them.

The horse is noticed no matter how small...

sorry to hear that Nika...

somewhat related story... i was at the press day at the Toronto Auto show a couple of years ago ... not many people .. the fences where still down around the Ferraris so i was taking some shots... i remember overhearing Remo Ferri (i recognized him.. i dont know him personally) being quite upset about the 456 they had there... it didnt take long to figure out what was wrong... someone had tried to PRY OFF the chrome cavallino from the front grill and had visibly BENT it...

needless to say he wasnt impressed and was wondering where security was during this....

if it isnt nailed down someone will take it...
sad world...

Were they the yellow ones with the prancing horse on them? Those badboys are just screaming "steal me!" :-)

I've had good luck with the more plain stainless ones on my P-car and Benz, but I still wouldn't be surprised to find them missing one of these days.

To lose them in a matter of hours is pretty impressive, though.

valve caps! I had new tires put on the SUV and one valve cap fell off and the other cracked so I thought..I have these cute little Ferrari caps - may look cool...

My first time out with the truck since I put them on and within 2 hours they are gone! I cannot believe it! Broad daylight - busy street parking and the grocery store....

(sigh) I know it's not a big deal - I knew one day they would "disappear" but not within HOURS!!!
