Martin,

You are welcome for the strawberries and the bottle of Dom Perignon would have made it to you but your state is too weird.

Chocolate Strawberries and Champagne is a small thank you for a big guy!

Thanks again Martin.

I agree with Yoshi- i.e., most people here are a class act.

I can single out 2 specifically, during my first ferrari brake job: Byron and Lou Staller. Without their help, I'd probably still be trying to figure out how to jack the car up...

And of course, when I started looking for my first fcar: Hans Hansen, and Taek-Ho Kwon, both helped tremendously in the purchase.

These are all people I had never met in person, and all have helped me, no questions asked.

Many other's have provided help with answers to my (sometimes dumb) questions.

I hope I can also be of help to others.

I think most people here are class act. I laughed, cried, learned, and enjoyed most of all in the past due to all posters. David Handa, Sean Harris, Adrian Low, Jack (Gilles 27), Vincent, BobD, Rob Lay to name a few, who helped to get my first F-car by providing all information & advise over PM.
Then Doody, DES, Bruce Wellington are making excellent contribution on postings (based on what catch my eyes)
In my eyes, most of posters are "Class Act F-chatters".

I'll cast a vote for the proprietor of Chateau Wellington. I'm well stocked with CR123A's and bad ass flashlights, unnecessarily provided by Bruce. Thanks again Bruce!

Les, I just looked at your profile and I'm dizzy! Wow!

Anyway, your post is quite welcome - despite whatever human differences lead to occasional squabbles and clashes of opinion, this board is not only a wealth of knowledge, but a fascinating group all-around. I've had the pleasure of meeting various members at events here and there and without exception they have always been among the nicest and welcoming people I've ever had the pleasure to come across.

Everyone has there own reasons for coming here - some view it just as information/reasearch, but I think those of us who've been here awhile come to also be amongst friends (albeit online), to exchange thoughts, opinions, humor, advice, etc. This is the first any only forum I ever joined until I recently bought an M3. Some people contribute here so often, I'm amazed to see they frequent additional forums.

Cheers,
~C

Aw,gee, Les, thanks, but it was the least you deserve for a wonderful afternoon. BTW, you can thank the guys at Algar for the restaurant selection. Since I'm now back in Michigan I called them for a suggestion and they were very helpful. Enjoy dinner. I only wish I could be there with you. Don't forget to look me up if you're ever in Atlanta.

I helped out Mario in giving him insight and opinions. We talked quite a bit and the time just flies when you are on the phone with someone you connect with.

Last friday I get a box of delicious chocolate covered strawberries. No card though...strange. They could have been poisened but I ate them anyway.

Yesterday talking with Mario I found out he and his wife had sent them.

Thanks Mario, although this would not have been necessary at all.

Kenny, IMHO you're spot on about the diversity of this group. What we all have in common though, is a strong interest in all things Ferrari. Do I care whether or not you're a Rep. or a Dem., own or don't own a particular f-car, or think Kobe is innocent or guilty - no, I have my view which, though not sacrosanct, is unlikely to be changed by someone I don't have a personal fix on! My interest is in talking about f-cars and others, tech stuff, racing, and where we can, getting together in person to do more of it! Off-topic is a great place to talk about anything else, if you care to engage (which I rarely do - it is the internet, after all) with others on topics which generally seem, IMHO, to be more divisive than anything else. Nevertheless, as Rob frequently points out (rightfully so), this is a large community which by and large gets along remarkably well, and I for one, have had only positive experiences with EVERYONE I've encountered here either directly in the forum, in direct email, or in person, young and old. I'm liking it here! 'nuff sermonizing. Cheers!

I got to 3-boards, audiworld, roadfly.org and here... I like them all.. They are all different in each respect.. Although I have never met anyone from F-Chat, I've met the Bimmer and Audi guys a few times.. Most folks as a whole are nice people and every board's been helpful in answering car related and off-topic related questions...

Ironically, I think F-chat has the most diverse group in terms of background, character and personal beliefs... Given that, I think the amount of fighting has been very limited...

les,

I run three boards.

I visit a total of six.

You are correct. This is BY FAR the best one as far as the limited amount of fighting and the HIGH amount of help.

Dr. S, also a great story. This board is sometimes like the tv news or newspapers - you get all the blood and gore, but little of the "good" news. Every now and then it's good to have your faith in human nature restored!

With all the vitriol directed toward one or another F-Chatter recently, I thought you all would like to hear a VERY POSITVE F-Chat story. I came home tonight to find in the mail a gift certificate to one of the best restaurants in my area. The gift was a very unexpected thank you from Bill Sawyer, who you all may recall recently spent three weeks in the Phila. area training to acquire a franchise. While he was in my area, we got together on a saturday, along with a friend of his, to drive some of my toys. We took turns at the wheel of several cars on some awsome roads, then came back to my house for drink before parting ways. It was a great day with fellow F-Chatters, driving and talking cars and racing. We parted with thank yous and offers of reciprosity when I might find myself in their area. Low and behold, couple of weeks later I come home to find the gift certificate in the mail. What a great and pleasant surprise. As a whole, this is a class act group of people, and Bill is one of the classiest. Cheers, and see ya in Monterey!
