Dan---a soul mate!(a true and honest understatement!) Thank God above that Bruce is the farthest from jealous.. Your depiction of me escapes me...beauty is only in the eyes of the beholder. We all know it comes from within. But my deepest sincerest and warmest thanks for your gratitude (which is completely unnecessary!!). I wont spoil the part two of your story..I am thinking it will go a little something like mine. What a ride baby!!Just a little tidbit though...I dont remember if I told you ..When I looked at the speedometer in the straight away on #29...it said 106...I do believe that this the fastest I have ever dared to go in that beast!! WHEWWWWWWWWWWW!God what a new clutch and a 30 K service can do huh?? It comes from many years of cars with Dad...exotics jag's mgb's Austin Healy's, etc. Always a passion for cars. Love you all and thank you again for sharing such a truely memorable occasion with Bruce and I. Dan baby... I will send you a care package of M&M's tomorrow!! xxxxxxxxxxxxoooooooooooooooo Andreanna

It was early Saturday morning; earlier than i'd liked, but at least i was awake. Dave would be here soon to pick me up. i needed to shower, shave and get dressed. We were going to The Wellington's and it was a party i just could not miss. Just as i'd splashed on some cologne, Dave pulled up. i went outside, we greeted each other a good morning and, minutes later, we were pulling away. A few necessary stops first and we were soon in his Ferrari 308 GTS, cruising down the expressway; NJ, here we come. The rain was on and off that morning and so was the top of the car. Dave's a really laid back guy so the ride from Long Island to the unknown depths of Jersey where Bruce lives was great , even when we were close to our DEStination and it started to rain to the point where the top needed to go back on. Dave pulled over, under an over pass and got out, ready to put the top on; he suggested i call Bruce and get the final directions. So i called Brother Bruce... "Bruce...? Hey, it's me... Listen, we're on- HOLY ...! Dude, i gotta call you back...!" Click. That was the extent of our conversation. Right before i blurted out the holy part, two gorgeous red Tetarossa blew by us and immediately pulled over to the side of the road. Not one; two. Testarossa, Testarossa. It was like being in space or watching a movie or somehow having my consciousness altered. i mean, i was IN a Ferrari and it still freaked me out; it was awesome. Right behind the two Testarossas was a 355, Gus in his gorgeous Azzurro blue 328GTS and Rob Ferretti in 'Vette. Dave walked over to the closest TR, spoke with the driver and explained that everything was fine and that we were just putting the top on in accordance with the weather. Once we were ready to go, we followed suit as the Ferraris in front of us led the way to Chateau Wellington... Chateau Wellington One by one, we all turned down Bruce's street, turned into the driveway and parked right on the front lawn... A sort of neat field of Ferraris; Testarossas, 355s, 308s, 328s, a 348 and so on... It was a sight to behold... Many were congregating on the lawn, including Bruce... Dave and i exited the car and immediately began to mingle... Slowly, we made our way to the deck and then inside... Now i've spoken to Andrea on the phone several times, but never met her; only saw a picture of her that Bruce posted from the West Point Concours. From the first time we'd spoke, we hit it off, so i was looking forward to meeting her. My eyes darted through the people, looking to find the closest match the person in the picture. i found her inside... ...and she looked nothing like the picture. She was far more beautiful than any camera could ever show. i took one look at her and thought, "Damn... Bruce is the MAN...!" We were so happy to finally meet each other and, at times we seemed completely oblivious to the rain or whatever else was going on as we talked... She's truly a delightful person and it's so easily seen why Bruce is her husband. DESpite the flakey weather conditions Bruce and Andrea were anything but and the party was a huge success. Everyone got along and everyone had a great time. i met some very cool people like Augustine and his girlfriend Josie, Jeremiah, Dr. Ken and his wife Louisa, John Arends, Todd and his wife and a bunch of other folks (sorry if i missed your name)... i finally got to meet the infamous Hutch, too...! Definitely lookin' forward to seeing him again, he's very laid back and definitely knows what having a good time is all about... Tom showed up for a short while but had to split; Ken Ross and his wife Tiffany were there; Rob Ferretti turned out to be a lot cooler than i thought he'd be... He left with some pretty good video footage, too... Although Jim "damn it's good to be a gangsta" Glickenhaus, Barry Wolinsky, Bill Hart, Kenny Herman, Vernon Hill and some other folks couldn't make it, we still had a great time... When it was raining, we were all in the kitchen, cheering different people on as they swigged sambuca; when it wasn't raining, we were roaming the deck or the lawn or even horsing around in the swimming ool (i left out the 'p' 'cause so did everyone else )... At some point in the afternoon, the food came... and came and came and came and came... There was enough food to feed all of Jersey; i had 3 heroes within the first hour of the food's arrival and no one even noticed; and that's not to mention all that healthy crap like salads and stuff, that was being passed around in the kitchen... Go to Bruce & Andrea's house, you'll never go hungry. Night time encroached and light grey clouds gave way to black skies and darker grey clouds; not that we noticed, we were still partying...! Todd was still shakin' his ass to 'i can't drive 55' while passing out his mystery gin drinks; Dr. Lee was still playing with his noodle; people were still eating and drinking and mingling and i was finally relaxed for more than hour for the first time since i got back from California. Some people really know how to throw a party... A crepuscular sky was not in sight as mean clouds hovered and loomed but we were ignorant of their presence; the warm night air invited a large group of us off the deck and into the pool again; even though some people had already gone home, the party would just not stop. By the time i got out of the pool (at which point, the water level dropped) the number of people had noticeable decreased. A front yard whose lawn flourished with various exotic autos was now mostly green with only a few cars remaining. A crowd-filled kitchen was now occupied by a handful of guests. A deck alive with the noises of a party had quieted... ...but still, somehow, that party mood was still in the air. The remaining people were still having a great time; everyone was still laughing and talking; a few of the fellas adjourned to the deck once again for a cigar and some small talk. Soon, it was just the few of us left; the ones who were staying the night. Slowly, reluctantly and one by one, we wound up turning in for the night. Sunday Sunday morning, everyone woke up whenever they felt like it; we brushed, dressed and individually convened either in the kitchen or on the deck for a cigarette, a soda, a cigar - whatever. It was how a Sunday should be. the furthest things from my mind were cliche items like the Sunday paper or some Sunday afternoon sporting event on the television; i was with good people and only regretted that the end of the weekend was near. After some lounging, eating and small talk, the subject of going for a drive came up... Unfortunately, i was the odd man out; Hutch had Jeremiah, Gus was with his girlfriend and Bruce and Andrea were a perfect pair, so i was kind of a hold-up on the whole driving thing; until Bruce selflessly said to Andrea that we should all go for a drive and that he would follow us in his Durango... ...but wait... that meant that i... Andrea... The Testarossa.... ...WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO...! |
