Back in the late eighties when the Countach was worth a lot more second hand than it cost new some guys borrowed or hired one and did this. Allegedly they caused thousands of pounds of damage to the paint and had to compensate the owner. I hear that is where the original moulds for the various Countach replicas all originated from, e.g. Mirage, Prova etc. Not sure how true it all is but I read it in a kitcar magazine a long time ago. |

I remember a company here in the UK doing the same with a Testarossa - they marked every panel ! Ronny |

Probably illegal. However done a lot, not so much in the F world, but happens with Porsches quite often. If done properly really not a risk to the car. A friend of mine was a designer for GM and used to do molds all the time. Not really an issue. |

Yes, reproducing and selling the whole car is illegal if lamborghini has filed a design patent on this vehicle. I think the risk for damage is very high if the owner doesn't want to repaint the car. |

Nice question whether reverse molding would be illegal in certain countries, including, possibly the United States, under trademark theories... |

Interesting. I always wondered how e.g. all the 288 GTO pieces came about. I bet somebody made once a similar deal and gave away his 288 to have molds made off of it. Technically not a biggie and if done properly no risk at all to the 'donor' car. Would I do it? Only if they gave me a complete set of the molds. Just in case I would hit a tree or something. |

I've said it before. I don't mind kits, but I would NEVER agree to something like that.. Why don't they just rent one for a day or two. |

I wouldn't... not with a Murcie. Too much risk. They could hotwire it and have a Ferris B. moment. |

In a heartbeat ! I'll even let them keep the Mondial for two weeks. But they better return it washed and waxed ! Tom |
