I have a set of 4 VHS tapes that are about Ferrari that I haven't even opened. How sad is that?

Definitely Victory by Design. I don't think there's a dvd version unfortunately. I do have the official VHS version which I won on Ebay last year. I haven't seen another since.

I second David's statement. Yes, those are really, really good. Great photography as well, the GTO is shot around an industrial complex (harbour?); they even loop the car. Way cool.

White Star productions had a series of 30 min videos devoted to specific Ferrari models (TR, 288,F40 etc). In my book they are a must. The book store next to Heritage Classics in West Hollywood, CA always had a copy or two. Now that it came up I think I'll go pick up another installment.

Where can i get victory by design on dvd? Le mans is more like a documentary that a movie I would say. "FAST CARS" is a good dvd although it's not just ferrari but they have some great shots and sounds of the F50 in there.I found that dvd on ebay. Although I had seen it on the discovery channel to start with.

Ferrari-Victory by design

or

The Myth of Ferrari - The Legend of the prancing horse

Here is what Martin Buckley had to say about "Le Mans" in his book "cars in films":
"...Mc Queen in one of his most surly and cardboard performances...He doesn't speak for the first 40 minutes and thereafter comes across as scowling. Even his friend Sterling Moss called 'Le Mans' 'piss poor'.

Le Mans has some great racing scenes, but no good acting and a plot so thing, that even Stallone's "Drivel" looks like a Fellini in comparison. If you want Ferrari, go for a documentary. Just my $ 0.02. I realize I touched on a taboo here as many feel Le Mans is hot. I thought it was boring to the bone. Yes, the scattered shots are great and so are the Ferraris, but as a movie, c'mon! If it has to be a racing movie (always difficult genre to put onto the silver screen), go for "Grand Prix". That one has at least some acting and even a plot, thin at it may be.
