Mike C had asked me for some photos of the Saratoga top that I got with my 328. I'll post them in the next couple of days so everyone can see what the top looks like on and off the car. Two nice things about the Saratogas. You can see through them, and they give you more headroom than the factory top. Unfortunately, they don't look anywhere near as good as a painted top like Mike C's. TWS |

Frank, Saratoga used to make what you're looking for... you occasionally (but very rarely) find them on eBay. |

I always wondered if I could find someone who could make a black, acrylic targa top for my 308? Like whats on my 91 vette? If it was black, would look OK.but, you could see through it,and it would light up the passenger compartment. Not for everyday, but to use on occassion. Also,a folding top. Canvas.Black or Tan. Folds up flat, like an accordion. Easy storage in the rear.Would look like a convertible top, when on.Both tops utilizing the same attachments as the original targa top.Any thoughts? Anyone want to build them? If so,how about a % for the idea! |

CTK -- good for you. The body color top is one of the favorite mods I've done to mine. I didn't use my original top either... took it off my neighbor's crashed 308 before it went to be auctioned as a parts car. There was a guy who was importing those Carbon Fiber targas to the U.K., and sold them via his site at myownferrari -- he was selling them at 1999 GBP so it's even more than a new stock replacement. And the guy was a spammer here... rather annoying.

Martin, "How the hell do you lose a top????" Same way you lose your pants! Take it off, leave it behind. POOF! It's gone. LOL!!! Actually, I just want to buy a spare one to sand down and paint to body colour. Dave, Thanks for the tip on search techniques. CTK |

Passenger to driver, "dude, it's getting like totally chilly in here. What's with the breeze?" Driver, "like...look up dude, I swear we couldn't see like stars before!" Passenger, "dude, like I think your top took a major exodus and sh*t!" Driver, "duuuuude!" |

I have seen someone selling carbon fiber replacement tops on Ebay. Personally I think the bare CF would look out of place on a classic Ferrari. Guess you could paint it. If I recall they were about $1K.

Ctk, Never used a search engine before? Go to Ebay Motors then type in "ferrari top" or "ferrari targa"....but you will have to search often and long to find one. I see them only every 6 months or so....And it may not be the correct one for an 85, that is the headliner will not match, but you could probably redo it... |
