robert - the depreciation isn't quite that linear. on low-mileage cars (sub 10K) i can see it, but once you get past the 20K mark i don't think the curve is that dramatic. my 2cents fwiw, doody. |

I have a '99 355B 6 speed. Currently it has about 5100 miles. It has been reliable and runs well but the service is expensive. My recent 5K service at the local dealership cost $1700. I would count on an average annual outlay of about that much for service and repairs, with a bill of $5000 to $6000 or so every 5 to 6 years for the major belt change service. My advice is to find a car that you can verify all required services. With regards to mileage, remember that in the Ferrari market, a car depreciates about a dollar per mile, so a 25,000 mile car is worth about $20K less than the equivalent 5,000 mile example. With recent price drops in 355's, now is a good time to buy. |

I'm on my second F355. The first was a '95 spider. I had a few problems (2) with the top, and by the time I got rid of it at 22,000 miles, it needed valve guides, but it was a reliable runner until that point. I did have an alternator go bad now that I recall. Oil services only go for $200 (only!), with other fluids slightly less. Belt services do indeed cost $5K because the motor must be taken out. My current F355, a '98, I've only had for a couple of months, but it did need a new catalytic converter. Thankfully it was covered by the Federal Emissions Warranty. F355's are one of the most reliable Ferrari's (dare I say automobiles). The major services are rather expensive, but when you consider what gets done and break it down over the years, it's not that bad. |

the 355 I drive is reliable..it has never broke down or anything..I do the oil changes with a friend and its only taken to the dealer for a new set of tires or a belt service..I would go for a 355 with at least 20k miles to be on the safe side..usually cars with less miles have problems because of lack-of-driving |

I have a 1995 F355B, 20,000 miles, no repair bills except oil changes and belt service. Don't believe all the rumors. |

What should i expect from this car in terms of service costs and reliability? I have heard so many diferent stories by now that i am a little worried to make the purchase (i'm moving to spain in a couple of months). I have heard the car is full of gremlins and can leave you stranded at any moment!! Also, regular service bills (oil and filter change)go for $1,000-3,000 ( i don't mind that) but a major service (every 15k) can go for as high as $5 grand!!!!! Also i was told to stay away from y 95s. Anyway, if there are any F355 owners who are willing to share their stories, i'm listening. Thanks Ed (from DR)
